This, beat me to it MB I was 6 at the time but the little gummy guy jigging around the pitch truly is the enduring memory for me, it's got me this one, genuinely upset, what a fantastic character and a possibly less appreciated hero than some of the other heroes.England would never have won in 1966 without him....that toothless jig at the end is an enduring memory.RIP Nobby

RIP Bobby Ball, what a great entertainer.
My son was 6, I was 30. We watched the final together on our little black and white tele. Son is 60 in three weeks time! Where does the time go?This, beat me to it MB I was 6 at the time but the little gummy guy jigging around the pitch truly is the enduring memory for me, it's got me this one, genuinely upset, what a fantastic character and a possibly less appreciated hero than some of the other heroes.
I saw them around the same time in Blackpool.. alas, I was a mere 6 years old and don’t remember much of it.He certainly was. Went to see him & Tommy when they were appearing on the North Pier in Blackpool back in 1982. My stomach was so sore afterwards with all the laughing. Tommy asked him at one point why he was so unhappy, & Bobby replied it was because a Jumbo jet had crashed into his house. "Oh that's awful" gasped Tommy, "how did it happen ?". "I left the landing light on" replied Bobby.
Thanks for the millions of laughs Bobby. A genuinely truly funny man.
RIP
I'm a few days late with this but Viola Smith, she was probably the first professional female drummer and she was bloody good and very underrated. She died a few days back at the grand old age of 107!

Hadn't seen this. Was in a pub earlier and they have a photo in the toilet of the England team, on the pitch, after winning the World Cup. I was trying to remember who was still with us and was wondering whether Nobby was or wasn't. It seems that he wasn't. RIP Nobby.Nobby Stiles.
