Gunter Schabowski : Ex. East German Politician who announced in 1989 that all E. Germans were to be allowed to emigrate immediately. A mistake that precipitated the fall of the Berlin Wall. His autobiography was titled - We Did Almost Everything Wrong.:)

Pat Eddery has passed away, just 63. Now there was a jockey.
Really good jockey, 11 times champion.

Never rode out for places though, and cost me a huge place pot once, not that I'm still bitter about it like.

His rivialry with Steve Cauthen was one of the best.

This sounds great, but I can only see the book available in German. Don't suppose you could advise an English book covering the same period/subject matter?

....big surprise to me as a racing fan. I didn't know he was ill. No doubt he was a top jockey.
Apparently been ill for ages. First thing they told me when I went in a bookies aged 16 was never back Eddery for a place. Win or nowt, that was his mantra. Golden age for jockeys that was, only Ryan Moore and Frankie who can hold a candle to the jockeys in the eighties.

Looks like Kenwright and Co. will have to find another title....
