His music which was commercially successful will live on, but he also recorded stuff which was simply art and was also amazing but didn't get airplay because of it's dark genre.
The thing that I found alarming today was in amongst the many tributes Marc Almond said he based his look on that of Scott Walker.

Aha, although Scott Walker has been wearing that cap for 20 years now.

I still remember getting my current record player for Christmas, my Dad seeing I had a SW record (Bish Bosch), asking I but it on and then they didn't believe it was the same one and hating it lol
 
Amazing voice and writer was Scott....loved the Walker Bros stuff, but his first 4 solo albums are something else. His later work found him pushing his musical boundaries somewhat and he wasn't afraid to be a little different from the crowd.j Just wondering if there is any male singer today that has anywhere near his talent ....I can't think of any offhand..sad day
