The Curious Case of Nikica Jelavic and Papiss Cisse

Fellaini almost always receives the ball with his back to the goal and Jelavic - he does not turn fast enough to service Jelavic because mostly he does not know where Jelavic is - most through balls and long ball are aimed at Fellaini - but he is not good enough at assisting to play in that position behind Jelavic - put Velios in there and drop Fellaini to holding mid -
but Jelavic seems to be a poacher only - he is not dangerous on the ball and creates very few of his own chances -
we need reinforcements in that department -
with Neville making 90+% of his passes backwards and sideways very few throughballs are on offer -
it is a combination of poor service and poor form - i would personally give him a rest for a game or two - Velios deserves a better chance to prove himself - he cant do much worse than Jelavic at the moment

You cant drop Jelavic. Moyes wont even take him off early. He knows hes the one with s goal in him

then Jelavic must start letting all those goals in him get out because the only goal that counts is the one in the net not the one in the striker

Jel is now a known quantity and doubly marked as such. He was never and never will be RVP. Sides are wise to our left flank and with Mirallas out even more than Gibson out right flank relies on Coleman playing at Brazil 1970 level every week solo. Jel isnt getting the half chances he was last year. And those he is he is finishing less for reasons like pressure and expectation.

I would say his goalscoring form last season was higher than his natural level, and this season is below his natural level. He isn't the 20 goal a season player we hoped for, but should score about 15. He is too good to finish with only 10.
Perhaps the reason that he isn't living up to our expectations this season is because our expetations are unrealistic?

bunch of clowns he is just in bad form and been unlucky he'll be back. I bookmarked this thread so when he his form again I can laugh at all you [Poor language removed] doubting him.

Agreed. He was a TOTAL of about a foot from having 4 goals against Chelsea ffs!

Moyes has ruined him like he has ruined every striker he has touched!

Radzinski, Beattie, Johnson, Yakubu, Saha, etc etc. by trying to make them all like Marcus Bent - close down and win throw-ins!!!

Look at Yakubu when he went to Blackburn - finished at Everton, then 17 league goals for Blackburn! Even a tactical idiot like Steve Kean seen that Yakubu should be told to hand around the centre half/edge of the box and nothing else! Jelavic should be doing the exact same!

Also he has been very unlucky as well, as mentioned against Chelsea... and the fact that Naismith messed up 3 or 4 simple balls/crosses to him in recent games.

It also doesnt help that Philip Neville is in the team, means Jelavic has to close down/work channels because we are effectively playing with 10 men!

Think i have to agree with the top part to be honest. it surely isn't coincidence that the only good strikers we've had under moyes get considerably worse in their 2nd season
