Current Affairs The Conservative Party

I share the sentiment but what mechanisms exist for slinging a PM out of office? Off the top of my head, it would have to be an party process to remove him as leader, and the internal machinations of the Conservatives are all about triangulations over power. They act if Brand Boris becomes an electoral liability.

A lot of British politics sadly relies on a sense of decency and integrity, and the current Tory crop have realised that if you have neither you can just carry on regardless and trust in the uselessness of the opposition to see you through.
No mechanisms, tbf. But he's going to be a liability for them at the polls soon enough. The Tories will do what they always do: send for the men in grey suits to tell them its time to sling their hook.

I'm more than ever convinced this feller will go down in history as the man who sat it out when a deadly pandemic was weeks - even months - away and facilitated a national disaster.

There's even some Tories who detest Johnson as much as the opposition do...as he's beginning to find out.

When you take a step back, you really have to admire the way the board has been cleared in the past few months.
Sunak taken down by Greensill, Hancick by his procurement issues and Patel by the bullying.
Gove has almost played a blinder.
But... the Mercer resignation is an interesting one and could be a fly in the ointment.
Former Army, young, regular media appearances (HIGNFY like someone else we know). Throw in the reason behind his resignation and he might be a real threat.

Everyone I have spoken to at work really aren't arsed that Boris has said that. The media seem to be but the average person arebt

Always a good Lol to get a "Didn't happen of the Year" post from pro-Trump, pro-brexit, pro-royal, anti-immigration, anti-minority, anti-workers rights, Boris-appeasing, Labour party supporter Arminsgod

He isn't very good at running a country. Not assertive. He is lazy and devolves his responsibilities to others. Most dangerously he is a liar...

However, he does have unfathomable support from people who think qualities of being lazy, belligerent and a liar is what is needed in a great leader, because they recognise those qualities in themselves and like to think this means he is one of them, has the same world view as them, will stand up for people like them.

Oh dear!

The defences of Johnson have now reached Trumpian levels of delusion.

We’ve reached the point where people are having to defend him via “he didn’t really mean that thing he said” or “when he said that obviously terrible thing, it was just a bad turn of phrase, and what he really meant was this instead”.

Not sure what ‘traditional conservative values’ Johnson has which seems to appeal to people who say they support ‘traditional conservative values’. Is it his constant lies, or his infidelity, or his siphoning off tax payers money to his mates and to his mistress?

The ‘let the bodies pile high’ comment should be the end of any leader outside of an autocratic regime, and anyone defending him at this point has well and truly drunk the kool aid.

And his supporters are generally those who thought Trump was alright too. Fancy that.

Think you are wrong. The average Joe thought Trump was an idiot. Laughable but and idiot.

And it's not about defending Johnson. Most people just couldn't care less about what he has said, or simply just don't believe anything tvr media say

Johnson is a creature of the media though; in fact he was a notorious liar within the media. Not believing what the media say is because of people like him.
