Good friend of mine is a fully qualified nurse and has been for the past 10 years...she earns nowhere near £34k a year. What is the starting salary for a Nurse in 2021?
A newly qualified Band 5 NHS Nurse currently earns £24,907.
The vast majority of Nurses will work for the NHS once qualified, but it is possible to enter the workforce at a private institution.
Here, the pay is unregulated, but as a starting wage you’re likely to earn a similar or slightly higher rate of pay.
But keep in mind the benefits package too.
As an NHS worker, the benefits you’ll receive will be difficult to match.
What is the average salary for a Nurse?
The Royal College of Nursing have estimated that the average annual salary of an NHS Nurse is £33,384.
A Quick Overview Of Nurses' Salaries In The UK In 2021
In this article we take a look at how nursing salaries are determined, how they vary between sectors and some points to consider if you’re looking to increase yours.www.nurses.co.uk
This might not be the right thread, but I was surprised at how high that average is - thought it would be lower.
Not to say that a 1% pay rise isn't insulting, I just though that nurses on average earned less than they actually do (and yes, I am aware how an average works).
Good friend of mine is a fully qualified nurse and has been for the past 10 years...she earns nowhere near £34k a year.
And yet ignorant tory ministers like Nadine dorries spout crap like no other public sector workers have had a pay rise so why should nurses expect one?
Repeat the £34k mantra often enough and the public will start to believe it
Mps pay rise of 11% in October last year?
Hypocrites.
I know its from an "official" site, ie Government prpaganda. Tory MPs do not give a toss about nurses or the NHS....that is my pointThis hasn't come from the tories. It's just on an official site.
Like I said, it's an average.
I have friends who are nurses and neither of them will be on £34k.
Aye, MPs across the aisle vote on those pay rises too. It's a disgrace.

More outright lying from Johnson at PMQ's today.

'government propaganda ffs.
This is vetted and verified information. Just because your friend isn't on £34k doesn't mean that that's not the average.
My mate's about to start in the police. His starting wage is about 20k. Doesn't mean that's the average, does it.
What average though? It matters whether it's mean, median, or mode and will no doubt produce quite different results. Mean isn't great for trying to show what a nurse will earn.
Payscale.com suggests median is just over £25k - I can't attest to the veracity of the this
Many of those who will applaud this yet complain the NHS has virtually been shut down and been reinvented as National Virus Service...And the NHS isn't being privatised...https://westlancashirerecord.com/2021/03/10/not-getting-away-with-it/
