Why hasn't the former Tory minister accused of rape been named?
Because it's a Tory, so cronyism or nepotism (they are not exclusive) is playing its role. Never had you down as niave!

A knighthood, surely?I hear Theresa May's husband has been given a peerage. All perfectly reasonable. This country has been completely stitched up by the establishment for far too long.
Rees-Smaug and the Chief Whip Spencer knew about this but did nothing about suspending the accused pending police investigation.Because it's a Tory, so cronyism or nepotism (they are not exclusive) is playing its role. Never had you down as niave!
Another one.

Tory MP not suspended over rape allegation arrest while investigation ongoing
The decision will be reviewed once the police investigation has concluded, the party says.www.bbc.co.uk
A Tory beast allowed to stay in the party until the investigation of his rape case is completed.
An absolute pox on our lives this lot.
No smoke...I think, but I may well be wrong, that the precedent (HOC wise) was set when that Lib Dem MP, (Nigel Evans ?) was charged with rape, was named, washed through the media, and the case was a pack of lies.
edit. His political career was finished as a result.
edit II. One rule for them and one for the unwashed? Sure.
It's a different matter: Evans was pilloried in the media. That was his issue.I think, but I may well be wrong, that the precedent (HOC wise) was set when that Lib Dem MP, (Nigel Evans ?) was charged with rape, was named, washed through the media, and the case was a pack of lies.

But it's a matter of course - or should be - that anyone in an organisation gets to stand down when such an accusation is being investigated. Imagine if he strikes again in the intervening period?

....he should certainly be stood down until the investigation is complete. The argument will be that he will be identified but others need to be protected in case the allegation is proved. It will also be interesting if other alleged victims come forward.
And the likelihood of that happening receded when possible new victims watched the party of governement declare they were four-square behind the *alleged* beast.
Surely Nigel Evans was a Conservative?I think, but I may well be wrong, that the precedent (HOC wise) was set when that Lib Dem MP, (Nigel Evans ?) was charged with rape, was named, washed through the media, and the case was a pack of lies.
