Not worth paying attention to the conference as from what I gather they have learnt absolutely nothing from their kicking in the election. I hope they fall into total irrelevance as I'd be quite happy with a Liberal Democrat opposition.

Think it hurts the people on it more Dear Kemi...

Its the situation they have built for themselves by pandering to culture war nonsense, they have to spout far right drivel to appeal to their awful membership to get a leadership position.

That weird membership will chose her, it might be a gift to labour, I find Kemi to be totally arrogant and out of touch with reality (like truss), general public will not like her.
The tories need to understand they will never win those reform votes back and the best they can do is try and undergo some form of rebranding.
Labour will continue to lose a lot of support through media attacks and their own incompetence

I can’t understand how they think going further right wins them reform voters back they’re all in on farage , a bit like trump once he karks it I suspect they’ll fall apart but it’s effectively a cult of personality. Also not to be crass but the extreme anti migrant , Enoch Powell was right mob might like having first generation children of immigrant support to make them feel better about their ideals but do they want someone like that as PM ?

It’s Singapore all over again with these clowns.

We want a homogeneous society / competitive wages / good innovation / strong public order what do you mean we need widespread public housing and lower inequality that’s communism that is.

Surely the Official Tories aren't going to shortlist Badenoch to be one of the two candidates to be chosen?

You only have to listen to her for 30 seconds speaking about ANYHTING to know she's a loose cannon.

I refuse to believe even that lot could make the mistake of choosing her. She makes Truss sound sane.

She's not likely to get there currently. Whilst there might well be Tory MPs that switch candidates and throw off the maths, at the moment it looks like there are 16 former Stride voters about to fall in line behind Cleverly or Tugendhat, and whilst Badenoch might well stay 2nd behind Jenrick with 3 left to go, the survivor of Cleverly/Tugendhat will pick up most of the MPs to leapfrog her going into the final 2.

I'm trying to keep an eye on various pro- and anti-Tory reports from the conference to get a sense of things, and despite Badenoch being the most popular the odds are shortening on the final two being Jenrick/Cleverly. The rounds of voting are mid next week so we could be looking at Tugendhat out on the Wednesday and Cleverly hoovering up the 'One Nation' vote to overtake Badenoch on Thursday before getting roundly rejected by the members (the ones that don't scribble Boris or Nigel on their paper that is).

Things can change though, Badenoch threatened maternity pay yesterday before Jenrick decided to portray the SAS as having to commit murder due to Woke, so these people could say any daft thing to upend things.

Of course can all thank #WorkBeerKeir for seeing these chancers off and instituting a sense of competence into government.

You were doing well till your last sentence.

Cleverly looks the only sane candidate to me.

You were doing well till your last sentence.

Yes just 'well' until then, but that's when I kicked it into overdrive and hit a home run.

We should make Starmer's birthday a public holiday for the service he's done the nation in getting rid of this lot, and his continued good governance. Also managed to dump some toxic effluence out of the PLP whilst he's at it.

Anyway now we're all agreed on what a top tier job he's doing, perhaps we can get back to the topic of Tories and their search through the rubble of their electoral battering for a new leader.
