Course you can separate them both, but with Gaza and Israel for example people would rather see loss of live on both sides than come to peace. I've stayed out of that debate and would kindly ask not to dragged into that please.

Your point on immigration is a more generalised which I'll respect but doesn't really achieve anything, no country operates on an open border policy.

brings up an example then asks not to be dragged into that debate

Every single country in the world operated one until the early 1900s.
Takes me back to one of the first history books I read : A J P Taylor's English History 1914-1945. In it, he ruminates :

“until August 1914 a sensible, law-abiding Englishman could pass through life and hardly notice the existence of the state, beyond the post office and the policeman.” As to the particulars of life, Taylor notes that the Englishman could live where and as he liked, without any sort of number or identity card. He could travel abroad without any sort of passport or permit, exchange his money for any currency without any limits and buy anything from anywhere. Conversely, a foreigner could reside in England without a permit and without having to notify the police.

Again I'm not talking about history am trying to have a conversation about current policy, we can all find laws find a past time that doesn't follow current convention.

Remember only 1950's when America stopped segregation laws.
Only 2014 when Gay marriage become legal in the "progressive" UK

I am not trying to show up anyone but actually interested in a discussion

you've lost me. what has either got to do with separating the past from 'current politics'?
I was just giving you an alternative example. Again I don't want to be drawn on them as this isn't the thread to discuss it.

With one of the key manifesto issues being the movement of people. Labour wanting to reverse an expensive and generally accepted failed scheme to unfairly remove asylum seekers from the UK. I wanted to see if others agreed that it should be removed or what they would want Labour to do if they got in. I accept your opinion and respect it.
