This is the thing I don’t get, I haven’t heard from one normal person that has benefited from the tories being in power.

Happy for any of the Tory voters on here to tell me how they’ve benefited. It seems only big corporations and Tory donors are the ones who did, and that is a tiny minority.
But Corbyn and Abbott is what you’ll hear most. No mention of incompetents that cost tax payer billions and has dragged politics in the U.K. into the gutter. Grayling, Hancock, Cameron, Truss, Johnson, Williamson, Raab et al. It’s shameful what has happened here.

The last argument is ‘they’re all as bad as each other’ or ‘the standard of politicians is terrible now’ whilst happily popping down to the voting centre to vote Tory.

Half decent piece in the Guardian’s comment section for a change

‘Whatever the Telegraph’s intention, these WhatsApp messages will show the British public what’s been apparent to most of the world, and to scientists advising throughout the pandemic. By acting too late, and then with its conduct throughout the pandemic, the government let us down during arguably the largest crisis of our generation. Too many people died before their time. Too many health workers worked in unsafe and risky conditions. Repeated lockdowns decimated financial stability for small and medium-sized businesses. Schools were closed in Britain for far too long because preparations weren’t made on how to keep them open safely. Scientists took the brunt of the abuse and anger from the major losers. Ministers and their friends made their own rules and made moneyduring the crisis. And Matt Hancock launched a lucrative media career off the back of it all.’

Tories have been trying to whitewash history.

The Torygraph will have had these messages quite sometime. They will have constructed a careful release plan for them to depict a specific narrative to suit their agenda. Obviously Hancock will be hung out to dry but I think that may only be a small part of it. No coincidence imo that the release comes at a time when Sunak is getting some bounce and,in their view, diluting the “pure” Brexit. Boris’s future in their hands it would seem.

Scummy party but also scummy from the "journo" who leaked the hancock texts. She was paid to help Matt Hancock write his book. That's how she got access to the messages. So, she wrote the book, got paid and has now leaked the messages to a paper for more money.

I'm not sorry that it happened to a Tory, and the fact that it is Matt Hancock is quite enjoyable, but doesn't say much for the journo. Something about the company you keep?
