The Bottom Line

Im not blaming the strikers and i think some of the criticism of the Yak is unfair. I thought he worked his socks of last night he came extreamly deep which he shouldnt have to do if we had any guile. My cirticism of the Yak is that he is perhaos to over confident and i mean that when he is possecion of the ball, a few times this season he has lost possecion sloppily which has led to goals and usually at times when ourdefenders are pushing out and are caught out of position, usually Lescott, i think other teams have copped on to Lescotts positioning at full back, i feel some criticism is unfair as obviously Moyes has told him to provide width and get forward as much as he can, its not rocket scence for other managers to realise that if a left back scores 10 goals in a season that their are going to be gaps and subsequently chances available down the left, teams have copped on to our tactics. His form hasnt been awfull at left back and he offers us much going forward but hes not a left back and he would say that himself. It needs to be Baines.

In terms of the Yak, i think we all know hes quality, the problem for me lies in creating the chances! Where do many of our chances come from? The wings, that where every team knows that our full backs push on and overlap our wingers and get corosses in its not rocket sceince, other teams play good tall strong centre backs, who mop up all these ball reguraly, lets fac it we have been found out. How can we change this, well in short we cant our midfeld is dreadfully unbalanced we have no threat coming form the centre what so ever, no one to get the ball go past players or move pocession slowly up the pitch intricately. Do we have the players to do this? we do i beleive Piennar, Fellini and Arteta are more then capable of doing this, admittedly we need a tiagho or a Mouthino as well as a Dm, but Moyes has our whole midfelid galloping into the box to get on the end of headers rather then looking at creating a threat through the centre. There is absolutley no plan b apart form sending in corsses. By doing this we are undermineing the quality we do have squad, the Yak and Saha being prime examples two of potentially the best strikers in the leauge waiting for hit and hope balls, when they can easily make something happen with a sniff of an intellgent or intricate passing movement.

So when the attack breaks down and Fellini, Cahill, Saha, Yak are in the box and our wingers and full backs are caught dangerously out of positionon the flanks we get mugged on the counter, as we have the smallest player in the deam in Osman playing a deep midfeild role, and our defender get pilled out of position because the fullbacks are out of position.

For me again the problem lies in midfelid both in the creative department as theirs no plan b in terms of attacking and in terms of defending i.e. no defensive midfeilder to shore up a break.

spot on , thats a brilliant summing up (y)

Ah [Poor language removed] it I'll throw my two pennace in...

I think the lad...is out of his depth. Slow, CAN'T tackle, he actually doesn't know how you do this...the usual argument you get? 'Well, neither can Scholes...' [Poor language removed] hell. If anyone thinks this lad will ever be fit enough to lace Paul Scholes' boots, they need they're heads testing.

He is the slowest player I've ever seen, I've yet to see him him even make one through ball...he doesn't track back (except once were he tracked Rooney to the halfway line if I recall..which got huge applause), he simply picks up the ball and passes it to the nearest person. for [Poor language removed] sake, this is what Scott Gemmil used to do.

I feel like I'm watching an old fashioned yard dog target man play in midfield. He's more akin to Ian Marshall than Paul Scholes. Him and Cahill will never work, but if I had to choose who I would want in the team out of those two? Cahill every time for me.

People are right, he is the wrong type of player, we didn't need him, and yup the manager and co must take the flak.

I just think Screech has a terrible whiff of the Beattie's about him. He just doesn't fit into this team, and personally I don't think he will.

Fellaini - Osman - Cahill is easily the weakest central midfield in the Prem. Team must love walking through them, not a decent bit of defensive ability amongst them.

From Bluekipper.

Sums it up for me.

Im not liking the fact the Yak might not hit 15-20 goals this season -- the first time he aint done it for a team.

Says a lot.

going off so far 15 will see a vast improvement, we should be putting the likes of wigan away with our reserves.
players who have done the business previously are so far away from what they were its beyond belief.
moyes is getting it, the players are getting it, one man seems to be escaping the flak.

he turned the national team from boring to even blander which nobody thought possible.
he gave footballs joke club a sort of encore by making them get laughed at even more.
now he's set his sights on ruining us.
ffs i'd rather we'd got his sidekick mcclaren as coach (imagine the accent)
so it starts here guys, we say cars hasnt been replaced, well neither has alan irvine.
he aint sound
he'll empty a ground
now we've found
he aint worth a pound
ROUND OUT !!

can't believe I woke up at the sparrows fart to watch that crap. Pedestrian, impotent, call it what you like. Fellaini and cahill in mid never going to work. drop castillo or young jack in dm behind to protect. arteta looks disinterested, benign crosses, to the opposition. lescott looks unnatural going forward. Osman lightweight and ineffectual. Ideas? Play 4-5-1 away from home, with def mid providing cover for fellaini and cahill. Think baines offers more on the left, enthusiasm, work rate and good crossing, arteta out right, crossing for tim and mo getting on end of crosses, their bread and butter. Yak to poach, hold up play, bring others into game, but must be played to feet. Defence is ok, exposed by lightwight and attackminded midfield in the wigan formation. Howard playing well. Could persist with this formation at home too, given recent injuries to saha and vaughan.
Osman, pienaar and anichebe on bench, to be used earlier. anichebe coming on, impressed with play on right, strong on the ball.
And, is there any possibility of us taking a shot from outside the box. Let's at least signal our intention to have a crack!

Agreed on all points.

Especially about our lack of wing play and hence, our lack of creating chances for our strikers.
