The bookies front runners to replace Silva

I do think we need a big personality, to dominate the players almost.

We always seem to reach a point of malaise, where the timid performance on the pitch is mirrored by the manager on the sideline.

I think both elements of that can feed off each other to an extent.

In part, the cult worship of Brands has arisen due to the rather dull persona exuded by Silva.

There just always seems to be an underlying mix of fear and/or apathy in our recent managers.

A bit more gusto and more truthfulness wouldn't go amiss, particularly in a difficult patch.

Been an Everton supporter since 1963. What we need is a top manager not someone like Eddie Howe. I don't care if they have managed the rs. We should have gone for Brendan Rogers, we could go for Benitez but i dont think that will happen. TBH i would take the ghost of Bill Shankly if he would return us to the top where we belong. NEA.

It's not feasible, objectively speaking benitez is the best name on that list and by cv would be perfect, top manager, lives locally, history of league and cup success with less money than opposition, can work with existing players etc.

But people don't look at football objectively, being a supporter is more about emotions and that's why he can't be considered. Look on here, the support would be divided from day one, any bad results would have the lynch mobs out.

It's simply not viable, besides he's signed a Megabucks deal in China so would now cost a fortune.

Nah i did and yes it was extremely frustrating.

My point is both the problem and the answer has more than one factor.

Again, trying to find some positive.

Doom and gloom market is flooded at the moment.
I also believe it will be pointless getting rid unless someone really good becomes available. Bit like Klopp and Rodgers.

They are the most realistic options though, no point putting any decent European managers when realistically they wouldn’t come here, that’s if they even know who we are.

More laughable than the most realistic mate, the only name that sticks out is Benitez, and If Silva does get the boot we are getting way, way better than those other 5 mentioned, don't ask me who that manager would be, that's Moshiri's job, no, thinking about it, Moshiri's track record is abysmal, so I would say it's Brands job.

We need to stop taking chances on these managers from lesser clubs.

Next one has to be top notch. We got lucky with Moyes in a way. It may never happen again.

On reflection, I don't think moves for either Howe or Wilder would be considered in-season.

The whole negotiation/compensation issues look very off-putting, particularly in the context of the bad blood with Watford over Silva.

We would need to be seen to be on best behaviour.

One thing we absolutely cannot countenance is a period of any longer than a few days without a manager.

Neither appointment would be the sort we could set the wheels in motion on whilst preparing to sack Silva, and I imagine would be hugely resisted by both clubs anyway if it came to it.

Continental clubs are just more likely to be agreeable, and have a more practical approach if it's reasonably seen that a move is a step-up for a manager.

We would be limited in replacing a manager in-season, and that would be bound to affect the type of names that end up on a shortlist.

Isn't it time we replaced managers with Artificial Intelligence or a Bot' of some sort. Need to get in step with the modern world at some point this club, trailblazers like we used to be as it were.

I get your point, but following that logic Howard Kendall, then player manager of 2nd Division Blackburn rovers, wouldn't have been offered the job.

If someone is doing a fantastic job at a lower level or with a smaller team it makes no sense to rule them out of contention. Every great manager starts somewhere and Pep is very much the exception in starting at the highest level. Why not be the ckuvy that appoints the next managerial superstar?

That said, unless the wheels completely fall off then I hope Silva stays, at least till the summer when it's easier to take stock and when the choice of managers is do much greater.
But unfortunately you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you reach prince charming.

We have tried several managers where we were hoping that the best part of their career lay in front of them rather than behind them and it just hasn't worked.

I would like to get in an experienced manager with a track record managing big clubs and winning trophies, get us established in the top six and then we would be in a better position to attract the better young managers.
We have spent so much money sacking Martinez, hiring Koeman, sacking Koeman, hiring Allyrdyce, sacking Allyrdyce and so far hiring Silva...we could afford Mourinho,Wenger and Benitez as joint managers.
