Not to pick on you specifically Mr Eggs, I generally agree with you but I'm not sure exactly where this narrative has come from. Ok, I can see the argument that he should have started Gordon over Townsend and arguably Patterson over Kenny but I'm giving Dunc a bit of leeway on that and assuming that Patterson maybe wasn't quite up to speed yet.

Apart from those 1 and half issues, what exactly did Dunc do wrong?

Not starting gordon who's been arguably our best player this season, and staying his mate Kenny and probably enough alone to suggest he shouldn't get the job.

However, the biggest thing was playing 4-4-2, anyone in the world could have told you we needed 3 in the middle, ultimately that lost us the game, we can't keep losing games because we will run out and get relegated

Tbf we lost the game on a corner, not in the midfield battle. I do agree with you that it would be nice if we could play 3 in midfield in certain games but as said earlier, who should he have played as the 3rd man, an injured Allan or the unknown quantities of Gbamin or Onyango?

Also worth mentioning that even with a 2 man midfield against Villa, we posted one of our best possession numbers of the season.

I think we had decent possession as Villa sat back in the the second half. Plus they only won their corner because they were controlling the game.

I think without additions we’ll need to play Townsend, Gordon or even Holgate in a midfield 3.
