The Blue and Red thread

So we've done this periodically...I think one of my first threads was asking this question actually, but since it's Xmas time and a period of reflection and giving thanks thought I'd do it again, with a twist.

I think Liverpool and the football culture in Merseyside is the most unique in the world. I just don't think you see the randomness and mixture of who supports whom anywhere else in the world.

So two part question: 1) Why and how did you become a blue and not a red? 2) This one is for the local Blues...Neither side likes to admit the other one has more supporters locally. So instead of limiting this to just the city of Liverpool, I want to include Merseyside as a whole (it's not like everyone on here is from the city...plenty of Blues from Kirkby, Huyton, the Wirral etc. So question #2 is, do you think the split is 50/50 or favoring one side or the other? Has that ratio changed in your lifetime?

1). My brother had a big [Poor language removed] off picture of Daniel Amokachi at Elland Road on his wall as a kid.

2). While the People's Club thing was a PR masterstroke by Moyes, Liverpool have more supporters and always will, both locally and globally, simple as. If we bothered our arse to win a few things it might change, like.

1) Bit boring, but I imagine many will say the same... My Dad's a blue. Wouldn't change it for the world.

2) Always seems pretty 50/50 locally, can't really explain why. Obviously Liverpool's Global following is bigger though, given they were a dynasty in the 70/80s etc...

I was never really a meff when I was younger, historically all the meffs supported Liverpool.

Not sure if that's changed much these days like, I believe Rooney was a bit of a meff though, but I'm not sure how true this is.

....born Blue because of parents and have continued the line. Not sure about local split, what is for sure is that more local Blue supporters actually go the game.

I was born in my grandparents house. Two minutes after my birth I was wrapped in a large Everton tapestry thing my grandad had made after the 66 cup final. Born a blue, as they say.

not sure about the 'local' split, probably slightly in their favour as the remnants of their success in the 70s and 80s. The horrible c****.

I've read some of the RS sites about this and they can't seem to agree on it. Some say it's a huge advantage for Liverpool because they never see people wearing Everton kit around town. Of course my first thought was maybe that's because Blues don't leave the house every day in their kit. Others say it's 50/50. Read one fella who was in territory sales and his experience told him it was as close to 50/50 as you could get.

The thing I find fascinating is the split families. I understand a blue or red family. But the ones where the dad is one, the mum is another and the kids are split is mental.

That's pretty neat pal. A grand story to tell your future generations of blues

1. Grandfather and father both Blues. Grandfather played for Marine and spent part of a season with the Everton reserves.
2. Don't know about Merseyside, but over here I see a lot more plazzy ****e fans. Only know of a couple of other Blues personally.
