The Aston Villa Thread

You'll also need a European Cup (Champions League to you, 'cos you're obviously some 17yo ginger virgin cockwomble) to do your trophy set.

I can send you a picture of us lifting it if you like ?

Get to bed you clown.

On an Everton forum while this is being displayed in Birmingham sort of underlines my point about the real status of it.

Enjoy your Prince William-inflated cup.

Lol.

Aah the t'interweb ?
It must be true then.

Bournemourh played 38 games, same as the rest of the league....but apparently, Villa 'nicking' a draw with 8 or 9 games to go relegated them.....get a feckin grip son...
You sound like those arsenal fans that are trying to justify their league title win this season as not being tainted by dodgy VAR decisions.

Ooh I'm so relieved you've been gentle with me.

Not sure Prince William has elevated the Trophy status though.
European competition has been watered down though imo, too many opportunities for too many average sides.
If the sides that qualfy are 'sverage' what does that make the sides that don't ?
Whilst I obviously accept that some leagues have stronger teams and are more likely to qualify and more importantly compete, don't shoot European football down cos you're not in it.
i guarantee that if you somehow qualified for the Conference League you'd be on here extolling the virtues of Djurgardens, Legia Warsaw or similar....

I wasn't intending to criticise Villa, they are a very good team.
In my head I was thinking the Champions League, being packed with non Champions.
Would love to have qualified for any of the European Comps.

I would too.

But there are some people here who cant see that the Prince William factor has elevated this trophy's status via the BBC to something it never was - even last summer for Spurs never mind some bang average euro-clubs.

People are being played and making themselves unhappy that Everton haven't won "the new CL-strength" Mickey Mouse Europa League.

Utterly baffling that some people are mugged off by this. I can see through it in an instant.
You seemed very keen on the Europa League that season where a certain Everton manager was famously the last in England to still be in a European competition (because it was Thursday and the CL teams had been eliminated earlier in the week).

Meanwhile, most clubs in England try to get knocked out of the domestic cup competitions on purpose.

I wasn't 'very keen'.

I've said: if the trophy was there for Everton I'd take it. But it's bang on the money to say that a trophy that gets handed round clubs like Villa, Eintracht Frankfurt, Spurs and Atalanta is not elite level. They're all clubs we could even have pasted at one point this season.

I'm being realistic here, and then some bell from the Bald Headed Brummie Party pisses his pants about it.

Only royal parasite Prince William's 'Villa fan' connection has got the BBC filling their kecks over this today.

Not a royalist but good watch this

I enjoyed this as well. Never been a fan of the royals as a whole but fair play to William there. Hard to imagine royals of the past being like that.

He hasn't had it easy with his wife and father both having cancer recently (I've had prostate cancer, and I know how hard the diagnosis and treatment was on my late wife having to stay positive). Whatever the circumstances around him settling on Villa, he does seem to walk the walk, and he takes it seriously. It's good to watch. If we have to have a king, I can't see much argument that he would be one of the best candidates. 'Parasite' comments are borderline Kopite behaviour tbh.

How easy would it have been for him to curry favour by graduating to the RS or United and pandering to the hordes, but he hasn't. And I did like his comment about them at a European final 'doing it the right way', unlike our feral neighbours...

And it must have been amazing for those guys to find out he has listened to their podcast. I'm a writer, and I know what a kick I'd get if he'd read one of my books.

Good stuff all round.
