out of the 60 wickets the aussies have taken to win the ashes, englands batsmen must of gave them 40 , peiterson 6 pryor 6 swann 6 thats without trying to think of any, fair play to the aussies by far the better team ,but they have had a lot of help of the english batsman

This.

O-LE OLE OLE OLE

What a good win that was, and great last days play...for us.

firstly well done to Australia. ive been watching cricket since 1989 and this is the lowest point and the scary thing is it could get lower. angry beyond belief. its been great that Everton have lost a negative mindset, I hope this results in England losing theirs.

No offence, but I disagree entirely with a reaction like this. Lowest point? The 90s and early 2000s were an embarrassing time to be an English fan, worse than being an Everton supporter. We've had our time in the sun, now it's theirs and South Africas, enjoy the good cricket the other teams are playing and look forward to when it's our turn again, it moves in cycles :)

Michael Atherton and Nassar Hussain were our batting idols of the 90s, no offence to the two, but says a lot about how far we've come. They wouldn't make today's team. (Well, in the form the current team is in, they probably would at their age!).

It wouldn't matter if you had Babe 'Im Ard' Ruth-Lee-Sobers-Bradman at the crease against Warnie and McGrath in full swing.

Hahahaha lovely paraphrasing mate

They were both faaaaaaaar too good. I grew up wanting to be like McGrath as a bowler, that's sad really, trying to emulate an Aussie, but he could land the ball on a 10 cent piece for fun.

that's fair enough mate but the 90's were bad yes but we took tests off the greatest team ever assembled. this is going to be 5-0 Australia and we were favourites, with only Clarke supposedly good enough to get in the combined 11. we haven't just been beaten, we have been battered, humiliated and pretty weak. we actually have the players and that's why for me its the lowest point and I've watched 20 odd years. I can accept to a point a lack of talent, I can't accept a lack of fight and England have gone down without one

I would have mike Atherton in this sids all day long. the quality of bowling he faced on a regular basis is night and day compared to what they face now. Graham Thorpe is another who would get in.

I agree the aussie are playing some lovely cricket.

Any idea of how you will go into the final two tests?? Prior looks out of sorts, his performance in the 3rd test was probably the worst you could expect. Fielding for most of the first 4 days that were around 40degrees wouldn't have helped for someone that needs to be active all the time. I went to day 1 and kept an eye on him, he was always running around looking pro-active. His age isn't helping his cause either, but some time out of the side might do him good and he could yet come back in. Haddin has done that for us a couple of times now, and he had the opposite form this series. Anyone else likely to not hold their spot? Can't see Broad playing at least the next test, but I think your bowlers will all be 'ok'.

For us I can see Harris getting rested as he's carried a lot of the workload even though it's well known he's got a troublesome knee, personally I want to see Coulter-Nile get his first cap. He's right on the fringe so if Harris doesn't play it would be between him and Bollinger. It will be interesting to see how we approach the last 2 matches, we won't want to lose both after being on top all the way so far but at the same time need to keep players accountable as well as having an eye on the future. Wouldn't mind giving Hughes another look-in ahead of Bailey, which apart from his 28 run over his form and age probably has him first in the firing line after Watson's century saved him.

I think Prior's okay, he's used to coming in to bat with a score on the board, he hasn't had that opportunity this series and no fault of his own, he's out of touch but you can see him getting better with every innings. I don't rate his replacement Bairstow either.

Could see Harris rested too, I like the look of Faulkner, arrogant, in your face, bit of pace, doesn't bowl as many pies as Bollinger, but it'll be interesting, they won't want too many left arm quicks as it'll create rough for Swann/Panesar at two grounds where it's known to turn.

Do you think you could make an argument for selecting someone like Kapila Wijegunawardene as a steady option to defend a big total Elong?
