The Ashes 2025

why are we so bad
Because being selected is the big ticket, the money fame and adulation has arrived. The boyos in the aus kit are only anything of note when they win and keep winning. that goes for rugby, and where they bother with Olympic sports. Entire mentality issue.
Countries that make winners embrace the 'pressure is a privilege' mantra, I accept that a toxic waste media in the uk is more of a hinderance than anywhere else (besides state control in places like russia and china). We want our cake and eat it to.

Looking at the schedule for next year, there's three tests against New Zealand, which won't be easy at all, and three against Pakistan, and who knows how they'll play. There's also huge number of limited over matches, 14 in all, to keep the money rolling in. They then travel to South Africa for three tests in Dec/Jan.

I hope next year the team will show some changes to the current feeble efforts.

A bit hyperbolic ; England has a terrible record in Australia, going back way before ' money, fame and adulation' as you put it was anything like it is today. You don't think the Aussie media is any less febrile than our own. They'd slaughter them if they lost, and the converse is true as well.

Because I feel let down by the celery stick wofters, I decided that they could have both barrels. It's beyond a case of booking their ideas up, they need to be emptying lockers and finding pastures new from here.

The thing is this year all the Media have cared about is the naff going on with the filth.
It's just been saga after saga between issues around the top clubs.

If you were just getting into cricket than you would hardly notice the Ashes had started.
The whole thing around it has been a shambles.

Salah / Slot - more important than the Ashes 🙄

Are saying you don't mind about the total media washout of one the best sporting events.

Shamble on the pitch and off it.
I don't give air time to the rs where I can help it, the media washout re the england cricket is because there was hype, there was 'we're ready and gonna win' which became 'we've over prepared' when they didn't play any warm up matches. and now they're faced with a severe beating and the aussies can't laugh themselves silly fast enough.

You know there's trouble coming when all of the comms on the ashes radio specials are in agreement and sneering at some in the side and the higher ups are getting a coating. Today it was done with "heads will roll as they always do...".

I'll vault myself from earlier in the thread where I said bin it all off, boat them home on a kayak and out of sheer mercy knock the ashes on the head for a decade until a new batch can be brought through.

It's not just rs Airtime, it's anything they can find to fill a spot.

This whole approach to the series needs a serious shake-up, with some propper call outs to the people at the top.

Binning the series for 10yrs though will just gradually carve away at the Test format.

It needs to appeal too the younger generation or it's going to the dogs.

If you can bridge tiktok cricket into test matches, then you'll make a lot of money. The knives are out for the people at the top. Radio after the day was done was scathing, and uniform, when GM says "I wouldn't blame Archer if he decided it's easier on his body to focus on the short forms and take the money" then you know there's aussies cackling in the background for being able to isolate the one success story and write him off over the hill. It's about getting your foot on the oppositions throat and leaning in. It's not about beating the other side, it's about destroying them.
This bunch is to nice. Where's the snide, the fight pickers, the ruthless sledger? The one that'll take it to far and be proud of the fact?

Pimms all round and 'what ho old chap'. Hooray henry's. The magnificent madness of the two most important bowlers having to dig in to save an innings then being so knackered they couldn't do what they are there for.

Test cricket will continue, just without the england no-marks. Get India vs Pakistan on channel 4 again, aus - NZ. Sri Lanka - SA. Build the interest that way, show a generation what can be.

I don't recall the hyperbole you use describe before the Ashes. Yes, we'll have a chance was the main thrust, but there were many caveats.
