The Ashes 2025

"over prepared" was beyond arrogance. I'd like to get a question to Atherton and Hussain, when you respectively were captains, did you get your say re input for preparation? Because if you did, where's the captain material now chirping up about getting the players warmed up in competitive conditions?

That goes twice, aus have had your pants down and tanned both cheeks in front of the world, as captain material at what point did you think a booze bender was a smart idea off the back of three straight losses and the ashes lost?

Batting coaches and anyone with eyes, why are the supposed specialist batsmen flashing hard at every non threatening delivery? A test is a measure of mental and physical stamina, the ability to throw wickets away at nothing shots has been nothing short of borderline corrupt. Who's been down the bookies with inside knowledge? The unwillingness to address this repeated problem stinks.

Fielding practice, has catching gone out of fashion or something? over prepared? excellent cocktails? Some answers, some contrition, some respect for the audience!

The kid gloves need putting away, this lot from top to bottom need rollocking out of their collective slumber.
Well yes and no regarding coaching, when you get to international level you shouldn't need to be taught how to play a forward defensive, you should be told when to play it and when to attack. Same with international footy, its about leadership not technique, doing the best with what you have selected and taking ownership of your decisions.

A win is a win and any test win in Australia is a good one. But this test also proved that Australia's batting isn't great and you can bowl them out if you hit the right line and length.

And if they had batted sensibly on the afternoon of day 2 in Perth, then this series would be 2 all going to Sydney. A win at the MCG is a big win but the Perth test was a huge opportunity missed. Just like Edgbaston was a huge opportunity missed at the start of the 2023 series.

The martinez phenomenal legacy.

To whichever batsman got out silliest..."when you played a nothing woft shot to serve up your wicket like a used shoe, did you think 'this is what international cricket is all about'?"

"Ben (Stokes), only you faced 100 deliveries or more, is there a reason disciplined batting and a mean minded mentality cannot be maintained by anyone else in the england batting ranks?"

"Ben (the plum) Duckett, you've wofted another to slip, that's 6 times in 4 innings. Are you feeling alright? So far you've scored under 160 runs in 8 at bats"

(that last one is a guess, 'cos simply I can't be knotted going searching for that pillocks stats, I hope you get the drift of the interview).

Wiegman for the Lionesses, get the best in and let them do their job, when one fails repeatedly it's time to move on. Her honesty is refreshing, I expect that virtue is not lost on the players she inspires around her.

On the coverage one of the coms asked Broad what Stokes would say to one of the bats that kept getting out at important times playing big shots(Brooks maybe) and Broad replied he probably won’t say anything because he won’t want him to second guess himself.

Bloody hell

An Australian apologising !

Lots of action, and not many will remember seeing and england win was it 18 years ago? novelty value. cricket aus with 4 days served out of 10 will hurt the old coffers. You watch, they'll discipline the turf management consultant (pitch boss) before heads roll around england plc.

'kin shambles.
self aggrandising england entitlements in usual reward themselves for failure. It's the tory party in sort of sporting form. bin.

Whilst it was great fun sitting amongst the Aussies during an England win this is unsustainable for cricket in both Australia and England.

Cricket Australia lost $11.1 million last year but would expect to recoup that and more with an Ashes series. They lost another $5 million at Perth and another $11 million at Melbourne purely in ticket sales. I don’t know how the concessions revenue is accounted for but both stadiums had all of the food/drink on hand for days 3 and 4.

I expect the governments, both state and federal to bail them out as sport is a priority unlike in the UK but it can’t go on like this.

The series was being reported as a one sided massacre here at 3-0 and probably still is - I haven't seen the papers yet - but England were in winning positions in the 1st and 3rd Tests and probably should have won in Perth. Their poor tactical decision making at crucial times has cost them.

Speaking to a mate in Melbourne atm who is at the Glory v City football. Some of the travelling cricket fans have attached themselves to the away Glory crowd, can hear them singing on the broadcast 😄😄😄. Class.
