The Ashes 2021/22

I know they won't do it and it would be silly to do but I'd love them to go out tomorrow and just go for a thrash. We've already lost the Ashes so why not go out in a blaze of "glory".

Incidentally, however, among the bowlers, Anderson is averaging 19, Robinson 26, Broad 28. They're okay for me and if you'd have offered most people those averages before the series you'd have taken them. Wood is 39, Stokes 71 and Leach 118 (lol), so the rest aren't so good, but it's clear that it's the batting that has massively underperformed in this series, with those four no hopers top scoring with 35 across those 18 innings. I mean ffs, even Mark Wood just scored 39!
I agree with Arch Stanton in that better batting performances would put a bit more pressure on the opposition batsmen and the bowling figures might be better than they are.

It wouldn't even need to be that big a change either. Malan is only averaging 29 or so, which on most tours would be pretty poor, but if all of our top 6 were averaging that (and Root was the same as he is) we'd be much more competitive.

Exactly. Just look at the scorecard for the first innings. A century and a 60 something for each team. The supporting cast's scores (20s and 30s for Australia as opposed to 6 England batsmen making 10 or less) made the difference between a 400 plus and a sub 300 score.

England pinch last ball draw.
If I was Cummings I would've kept the players round the wicket and bowled myself...dont ask anybody to do what you won't do yourself...or maybe Bowland.
Good test...but England's problems haven't...like Everton's, gone away with a poor performance that, in the end, just, avoided a defeat.
