'As per usual KP saves England once again.

It suprises me how Collingwood scores so much, one of the worst techniques i've ever seen, he reminds me of my cricket captain.

The Aussies need Brett Lee, he would tear them a new arse.

With it being the first innings, anything over 500 like. Australia's batting line up doesn't scare me but neither does England's bowling attack.

Anderson is too inconsistent, always has been since his debut. Freddie is the dangerman but i'm not sure how we can rely on him when he's injured more then James Vaughan and Swann and Panesar are over-rated.'

Lol.

Not bein funny mate but what do you know about cricket honestly?

500+ is a good score on this pitch? This isn't a 500+ pitch. 400 would be a very good score.

KP didn't save us as much as he did his usual selfish 'get myself out with a ridiculous shot, without thinking about the team'. His score ultimately mediocre, cos it could've been a serious knock.

Batsmen of that innings were Prior and Flintoff. The way they put those runs on at the end, at the pace they did, have given us a fantastic shot at the match. Just a shame that they both ended the day in the Pavilion.

Brett Lee is way past his best, so I don't think he would 'tear them a new arse'.

Paul Collingwood's technique is fantastic. Just because he isn't a flashy batsman doesn't mean he isn't a damn good batsman, and consistent to boot.

James Anderson atm is far and away our best bowler. He's in the form of his life, playing like he did when he first came into the side in the World Cup when he was a lad.

And Swann and Panesar are both very good spin bowlers. So, don't really know where you're getting these opinions from.

I was in Lancashires academy like.

I tell it how it is to be honest.

You're getting nowhere here to be honest. Paul Collingwood's technique is garbage but i agree on him being consistent. He isn't flashy but i'm just suprised how a batsmen of his standard continues to score runs. Abit like Fellaini playing in an 5th placed Premiership side i suppose, we'll never know.

I'm not sure if you remember Anderson when he came into the side, he was inconsistent and wayward and if he gets ****ted, it's always the same Anderson, head down and bowls an inconsistent line.

Have you ever played cricket mate?

Panesar is over-rated, always has been, just because we've suddenly found a spinner who can get a few wickets, he's made out to be the next Shane Warne. He's nothing special.

First things first..this aussie team is their worst for at least 20 odd years, but they are still a fine side non the less, finally the huge well of world class talent seems to be drying up for now,but like i say they're a bloody good side just not full of world beaters as have come before,so hopefully no 5-0 whitewashes here in this series.

KP yet again gets out to a nonsense shot, when will he grow up and start to play like the class batsman he could be he could have,no should have had a shedfull of runs this time but once again he flucks it up.

Flintoff and Prior played well fair do's and saved us from a lowish score,it was good to see.

Monty has gone backwards since Fletcher left,he lacks direction aand having Moores as coach didnt help him if something isnt done to give him some love and attention a talent could be lost becuase when he came along he was the best left arm spin bowler since Phil Edmonds i've seen,i hope they can sort him out.

Anderson has been inconsistant all his career but he's stepped up and grown a pair and looks the real deal now, long may it continue.

Overall it was a good days play, about even between them tbh and that makes it look good for the rest of the summer.

I hardly even know any of the Aussie team, we don't even have a decent fast bowler any more.

even stevens.

looks like its going to be a good series

L.C.A.B. was there boys . History and all that . This is not the Aussies of 05 , McB . Had a little few quid on Johnson Series Wkt Taker and Siddle for this one .
Today is likely to dictate the rest of this test . Pls God we can ,
" Put them under the pump " , as Aussies like to say .

Come on !!!!!

( Altogether now , ) ... You all live in a Convict Colony ,a Convict Colony , a Convict Colony .
( Sorry McB /Timmy but this is the Ashes , mate . )

I hardly even know any of the Aussie team, we don't even have a decent fast bowler any more.

Dunno about that Bundy . The 3 I saw yday were not too bad .
Your problem yday was Punter lost it in the 2nd Sess. It as almost Edgbaston 05 all over again . Hilf / Sidds / And ( if I was a Mars Bar , I'd eat meself ,) Mitch " The Body " Johnson , did ok , and will get wickets thru the series .The Lord has blessed us with Nathan Hauritz , however . I fukn love the Ashes . Roll on Edbaston and Headingley ( my next attendance . )

And did those feet , in ancient times , walk upon England's Mountains green .....

haha well in richard..

Virgin Media Sport | Cricket | Cricket Headlines | Branson sparks furore down under

Richard Branson has provoked outrage amongst Australian cricket fans after Virgin Media beamed a tongue-in-cheek image of the tycoon onto one of Australia's most iconic landmarks, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, to mark the start of the Ashes series.

However his cheeky stunt has left many Aussies decidedly stern of face, as locals overwhelm websites criticising the stunt for Virgin Media - leading Branson to make an apology on his Twitter feed.
The image, referencing Australia captain Ricky Ponting and featuring Branson's face painted with a St George's Cross, was unveiled in the shadow on the famous Sydney Opera House with the slogan "Good luck Ricky. You'll need it. Dicky x" to promote Virgin Media's 'Fifty50' campaign, designed to spur England on as they fight to win The Ashes this summer. The company has pledged to donate £1,000 to charity for every England batsman who scores a half century during the series to celebrate the national roll-out of the broadband provider's ultrafast 50Mb broadband service. With the series only in its second day, the charity pot is already up to £3000, with Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood and Matt Prior all hitting half centuries in the opening sessions.

However, some Aussies have not seen the funny side with message boards deluged with complaints. One fan said, "I think Richard Branson should be arrested for this' with another vowing "Tricky Ricky will take the stupid look off Branson's face by the end of the first test. Take the stupid looking thing down."

And in a bid to diffuse the row from escalating further, Branson today issued an apology - albeit a cheeky one - by writing on his Twitter blog. In the post, the tycoon said: "I'm sorry if I've ruffled a few Aussie feathers with my message... maybe the truth hurt!

Defending the stunt, Richard Branson said: "I love Australia and I know that the Aussies are always up for a spot of light-hearted banter, especially when it comes to The Ashes. Every Australian I know wants to stuff us in the upcoming series and I wanted to do my bit to encourage the England team in the hope that they can win the Ashes this time round."

Laurinda Rio-Copeland, who lives in Sydney but is originally from London, was passing by as the image was beamed onto the bridge. She said: "I have had so many Aussies rib me about England's defeat in the last series, telling me how we are going to get beaten again. I think this image is really funny and it's nice to see the Aussies being on the receiving end for a change."

The unique 'Fifty50' scheme will run throughout The Ashes and will see Virgin Media donate to a selection of good causes favoured by the England players. Launched by former England skipper and Yorkshire player Michael Vaughan, the charity donations will go to each English batsman's chosen charity, every time he scores 50 runs or more in a single innings, throughout the series.
