I rarely use facebook but very occasionally I post something calling for gun reform.
Nothing extreme, like 'give up all your guns'. More, 'lets try something, and if your solution is solving the mental health crisis, lets fund that'.
Very middle of the road stuff. Yet, 90% of the likes or interactions it gets are ex-pats or people living in other countries.
This happens every time.
A worryingly high percentage of Americans are completely numb to this.
It's a very insular country and there seems to be a feeling of 'this is just normal, it happens everywhere' because to most Americans, everywhere is the rest of America.
