It's just occurred to me about 20 seconds after it should. How did she get the gun through customs and past the scanners at the us airport in the first place? The twits* at airports are up your rear end over a double sized bottle of perfume "you can't take on board" yet someone's gold plated firearm sneaks through without so much as a banana cream pie being chucked.

Yeah that is weird and quite worrying. Just read a few articles about it and none of them address that point.

it’s obviously been missed on the hold xray but in fairness to them they’re looking for slightly different material , ied stuff really . It’ll probably with other metallic items in the bag and not near any organic material .

I’d imagine it’s nowhere near the worst or biggest thing missed .

Sound, shape your bomb mechanisms like pistols and have em near your shampoo. It happened earlier in the year or last year where a boxing trainer from the u.s had flown a gun in and got through both exit america and entrance uk, and only got pulled for it trying to leave the uk. It's reckless.

oh im not saying it’s not an issue but unfortunately stuff will be missed . If it’s just metal it won’t blow up like it’s needs an organic material to do that hence why perhaps that’s contributed to them missing it .

There is zero chance security at airports is perfect , firstly nothing is and secondly it’s likely a G4S employee on £20 odd grand .

Last time I flew out here going through customs in Manchester they took my lighter off me but didn't check my hand luggage which had a strip of a dozen lighters and two aerosols in it.

Only after the plane took off I was thinking that could easily be turned into an IED with anyone with the know how.

Wasn't a particularly comfortable flight after realising that ...
