No. The officer said 'I think it's a cap gun'. He didn't say 'It's a cap gun'. There is a huge difference.

How long should he have investigated for? It's not the response officers role to investigate. He is there for an immediate response. It's for others to investigate after things have calmed down and the danger has passed.

Again, don't judge this by the relatively low threat of gun crime in the UK. The gun threat across the pond is very different.
I live in USA and have done for many years, I am quite aware of the gun threat thank you very much.

Yes, the officer is there for an immediate response but that immediate response should not be to fire without determining a) that there is an actual threat b) that if there is a threat it can only be resolved by firing rather than de-escalation techniques c) by firing they are not putting other lives in danger. I don't think this officer did any of them.

Another tragic waste of life. Apparently the 150th mass shooting of the year already. How long does it take before they realise that people are emotional creatures and if someone has access to a weapon they could easily snap and do this kind of thing.

It's been said before but if Sandy Hook didn't make them change the laws then pretty much nothing will. I know all mass shootings are horrific but gunning down 20 children aged 6 or 7 should have been enough.

I remember my first visit to the US of A in the 1970's. It was a business trip with two other guys. We booked into a Howard Johnson and as we were leaving reception to go to our rooms, the receptionist said 'who has got the ground floor room?' I said 'me'. She said 'make sure the patio door is locked as we had a policeman shot and killed on the car park last week'. That was Atlanta.

By his t-shirt, you can clearly see he is carrying them to 'make a point' rather than any actual need. "Look at me, I'm a defender of the consistency," blah blah blah.

It's the same with the neanderthals who intentionally walk past schools with loaded AR-15s, looking for a response from the police, so they can film confrontations.

Just because someone has the right to do something doesn't bloody mean that you need to do it!
