It's my guess he was a young man conflicted between his own sexuality and the teachings of his religion.

To prove he was a good Muslim, he went into a gay club and murdered 50 people.

If he had blown 50 people instead of blowing away 50 people, the world would have been a happier place.

Intolerance has to be tackled at every opportunity.
Allowing religious fanatics easy access to firearms will create a lot more instances like these.
Thankfully, it's pretty difficult to get hold of that kind of weaponry in this country.

And that, right there is the big difference.

Over here, some people get shot AT (not shot, not injured, not killed) and it's a pretty decent sized news story.

In the US, due to the absurd level of gun crime, fuelled by the even more absurd prevalence of firearms, that story would t even make the news in all likelihood. They'd be far too busy reporting on the latest mass shooting, since they occur at a sickening, almost daily rate.
