The gun lobby or whatever it is in States was an important component to Chump being elected, current POTUS won’t be doing anything to undermine the flow of money for the next presidential elections unless an equal financial replacement can be found .. And when there are advertisements like last July in the states, it’s a hard task-

Now he’s escalated to 40% of teachers after this mornong saying it was fake news that he wanted to arm teachers.
Lilly livered liberal that I am I would prefer teachers who are good at teaching rather than marksmanship.
The armed teacher thing is so stupid. I find some merit in the argument that teachers shouldn't see 2A rights stripped in their place of employment, or that there could be isolated instances where a teacher who is voluntarily armed makes a difference in a school shooting. I find no merit in the idea that persuading teachers to carry firearms is somehow a valid solution to the school shooting question.
You know what - I hope they do give teachers guns over there. And I hope every single teacher who has one is only a allowed a gun that has Trumps face engraved on the thing. That's the only legally allowed gun a teacher can have.
So when inside two years a teacher shoots a dozen kids dead in a classroom, they can publish a picture of the murder weapon and have his gormless stupid face on it.
And even in that scenario, even then, the answer from the deluge of simpletons that call themselves 'American Patriots' will suggest that it wouldn't have happened if the kids had more guns.
Dumbest country on earth.

Do you think Trump has given much thought to whether this % is likely to be better or worse in the circumstance of a teacher (with significantly less training), armed with an inherently inaccurate weapon, trying to return fire at a much more highly armed adversary, in a crowded area, potentially with kids running and screaming in every direction?
Do you think Trump has considered the idea that (in his 20% scenario) at Parkland there would have been ~30 armed teachers. Supposedly they'd all (or at least a good number of them) be aiming to converge on the shooter's location (something even experienced officers struggle with, with the auditory properties of gunshots in enclosed spaces)... then all opening fire on the assailant. I'm sure in Trump's head this all happens like in the movies, but in reality, multiple teachers would be firing from various angles, without the benefit of police tactical communications - it's almost impossible that people wouldn't be caught in the crossfire.

At the risk of leaning too much on pop culture I would quote the film Fight Club:
"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."
Righteous indignation runs rampant.
I am not a fan of putting guns in schools. I don't think that talking about reducing the prevalence and ability of high capacity, rapid fire weapons AND discussing the problems in society that lead to these instances are mutually exclusive. Don't do one or the other - do both. I don't think that simply because something will not completely eradicate an issue it should be brushed aside. And I certainly don't believe that people who disagree with me are idiots who should be ignored rather than people with whom a healthy debate is possible.
Unfortunately many in this country seem to subscribe to the theory that if you do not wholly embrace their worldview you are an enemy who must be defeated, rather than a potential ally with whom compromise may be found.
Healthy dialogue is almost impossible to achieve in this sort of environment because at the slightest sign of compromise you are devoured by your own.
