The 20th World Athletics Championships. Tokyo 13th-21st September

Going back to the women's 800M: I'm not sure about the winner...to say the least.

Odira came into the final and beat her own PB by 2 seconds. Two seconds is an enormous lowering of a personal best over that distance.

The Kenyans are now the most notorious dopers in world athletics - 5 of them have been suspended or banned just in the last month...80 in the last year.

I have a feeling those silver and bronzes won by Hunter-Bell and Hodgkinson might be upgraded to gold and silver before too long.

Odira by the way has reduced her PB over the last 12 months by 4 seconds. Utterly incredible (or un-credible) for that distance at that level of competition.

I'm calling it now: she's a juicer.
Jarmila Kratochvílová set the world record in 1983, (Czechoslovakia) 1:53.28 (for 800m)

The winner just now ran 1:54.62, a new championship record. Lilian Odira. Kenya.

Bring on the enhanced games.
Nice to have you on board old chap, looking forwards to working with. Tally ho and all that...

They're worse than the East Germans in the 70s and 80s. And they dont even have the excuse of doing righteous work to promote a socialist system. They're just tawdry chancers looking to make a few quid.

Another thing: the BBC panel inquest about all the relays going haywire and them demanding action over it.

Erm, they just weren't good enough and cant be successful all the time might be the answer to the questions asked of them.

Maybe the BBC panel feel they should be getting some of the same gear the Kenyans are throwing down their necks and injecting into their veins?

It's hammering down with rain, there's an inch of standing water, the entire field is running the lane one shorter distance in the lake that's built up.

The entire field set seasons bests, national records, or championship record. How? One or two I can understand, the ENTIRE FIELD!

No one is testing kids in practice in the fields out back in deepest Kenya. Where there is no oversight there is opportunity to exploit the system.
"Do you want a lifetime of herding goats or do you fancy travelling the world and competing to earn big cash prizes. Imagine how this could transform your families lives..." ... "your good, but with this you'd be even better..."
It won't just be the Kenyans, there'll be a select bunch of specialist doctors (Similar to ferrari for armstrong) that cater programs for specific athletes and events.

4 seconds in 12 months is frankly superhuman.

It's a long way from missionary priests teaching kids track technique to become naturally gifted champions, to pharmaceuticals being required to hand a bunch of chancers and their gangster agents the high life.

That 800M winner Odira will have a lot of attention on her now. They'll be looking at her doping tests again and with renewed vigour. UK athletics will be prompting that.

I know it's not your point, but that explains why the GB 4x100M women's team failed to medal: they had a lane completely saturated by rain water while Germany in lane 8(?) had a pretty much dry lane all the way around the track and took the bronze from them.

The German lady on the last leg needed another 30m to catch gold and silver, to say she was flying is a slur on the luftwaffe. Ours were never really in it. Like Hunt though, think she's a great find.
