5th placed Everton women after that exceptional performance and big win at Brighton last week, had the chance to officially confirm 5th place today if they could beat the bottom placed Villa team who went bottom yesterday due to a surprise massive 5-0 west ham win at Reading and if Man Utd could win at Brighton. Everton were looking for their 1st home win in 4 v a team that they beat 6-0 away in early October which is their biggest WSL win to date with this being only the 2nd top flight game between the 2 after the last 3 wins Everton have had all came away-last time Everton had 3 wins away without an home win was 2012, Villa had lost their last 4 WSL games without scoring with the last team to do that been their neighbours Birmingham last year, while the last 3 meeting with Everton they have failed to score in the the last 3

Everton made 3 change's to the starting line up from the 5-0 Brighton win with MacIver, Graham and Lehmann comming in for Korpela, Stringer and Magill, Gauvin once again returned from Injury to the bench while the away game at villa is Gauvin's only full 90mins league game, also played the full 90 in the cup final, Rebecca welch was the 4th official the day before she will be the 1st women to be in charge of a an EFL game [Harrogate v Port Vale]

Everton have not won 2 games in a row since winning the 1st 4 league games, and on 6mins Everton wanted a pen when Raso's shot was blocked by a villa player with her hand but nothing was given, but the 1st 30mins were pretty even with not much happening bar that Raso shot, Everton were dominating the possession but not doing to much in the final 3rd but Claire Emslie blasted over from outside the box on 31mins, but Everton finally took the lead on 37mins when Captain Lucy Graham headed home though it may have came off her shoulder from close range for her 1st league goal since mid october and her 1st since the man utd cup win in mid December for her 6th in total after a super Izzy Christiansen cross, Everton then had a goal disallowed for offside right on half time when Alisha Lehmann flicked the ball on to Australia international Hayley Raso who taps home at the back post when if she left it it maybe would have counted, but it was 1-0 at Half Time

Everton were awarded a pen on 54mins after Olivia McLoughlin handled the ball, but villa keeper Lisa Weiss saved Lucy Graham's pen very well low down to her left, and Everton nearly payed for it 2 mins later when Sandy MacIver pulled off a great save to stop Freya Gregory shot after she had cut in from the wing she was making her first ever start in senior football, on 64mins Everton were awarded a 2nd pen when Sevecke was brought down by Jodie hutton who's swipe caught the Everton defender, Villa protested but up stepped Izzy Christiansen for the 2nd pen and this time there was no mistake with Izzy going the same way the 1st pen was saved,Sub Simone magill very nearly made it 3-0 on 76mins but the villa keeper made a super save but just 2mins later Magill did make it 3-0 on 78mins when Jill Scott's shot was blocked very well but with Magill stabbing it home, Villa got a consolation in Injury time when a villa free kick was headed home by Chloe Arthur on 94mins, but the final score ended 3-1 to Everton who cement 5th and will end 5th if man utd win at Brighton which is 1-0 to Brighton at Half time to gain only their 2nd win ina row since the 1st month of the season

Another good win. Great ball in for the header. I'm assuming Gauvin is injured again as she's been out of the last 2 match day squads hasn't she.

Was out last week and only started training Tuesday and wednesday but nothing was said about whatever the Injury was, was a sub today but not brought on, she as ive said only played 1 full league game all season in early october v villa away while playing that one full 90mins in the cup final, so shes hardly played at all really this season

Izzy Christiansen is Everton Women's joint-highest goal scorer (6) and highest assist provider (5) in the WSL this season,
she is actually the only player to start all Games for Everton

Bit hard to understand the Interviews

Love a little clipped in cross like that, boss ball in. Proper Everton goal to concede, though...

Academy graduate Grace Clinton has signed a first professional contract with Everton, penning a two-year deal until the end of June 2023.

The midfielder, who turned 18 last Wednesday, has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the Club and made her senior debut in Everton’s 6-0 victory at Aston Villa in October 2020.

Clinton was named in Everton boss Willie Kirk’s starting line-up for the first time as the Blues hosted city rivals Liverpool in a Continental Cup tie the following month. The Merseyside-born teenager impressed as the Blues recorded a 1-0 derby success.

An England Under-17 international, Clinton possesses excellent technique, an expansive passing range and an eye for goal.

Clinton, who joined Everton aged 13, outlined why she believes the Club provides an ideal environment to continue her impressive development.

“Everton has always looked after me and I’ve loved my time here,” she told evertonfc.com.

“It’s a great place for a young player. I’m so grateful to be offered this first pro contract and I am delighted to sign it.

“Willie and the staff have helped me improve my game so much. Each and every week, I feel I’m growing as a player.

All the girls in the First Team were so welcoming when I first joined up with the squad. They helped me settle in and play the way I can. They enable you to be your best self.

“I just want to keep learning from the great players in the squad.

“Hopefully I can become an important player for this club and help us get into the Champions League and win silverware.

“We’ve made such big strides with Willie in charge. Everton is on the up and I’m excited to be part of the Club’s future.”

Everton manager Willie Kirk added: "I'm delighted Grace has signed her first professional contract with the Club.

“She is an enormous talent and has come on leaps and bounds this season. Technically, she is fantastic, and her tactical knowledge is already at a good level.

“She has improved her physical conditioning and professionalism, and if this improvement continues, who knows how good she can be.

“She has got the right character to get to the top and I'm looking forward to working with her moving forward.

“It is important to me that, as well as challenging for trophies, we continue to develop our own players through our Academy.

“That pathway may be getting harder, as the level of the WSL increases each year, but Grace is another great example that it can be done."
