EVERTON LADIES 1 DURHAM WOMEN 0

It was 4th placed Everton 3 points from top and game in hand v the current leaders Durham Women in the rearanged league game today, game was rearanged due to everton oddly enough beating durham in the cup on the same day league game was due to be played, anyway a 5th win in 7 games for Everton would put them top over durham on GD, with everton having a game in hand,

Everton started and played most of the 1st half like a house on fire, with Turner having a shot deflected wide on 8mins,on 9 Walker cliped a cross right along the box with no one there, which was cleared for a corner, which in turn was scrambled off the line by durham from a gabby geogre header, but 4mins later on 13 Mins,Gabby geogre was not to be denied this time as she headed home from a turner corner, then on 33 the next big chance of the game came to Magill who after been played through only had the keeper to beat, but she shot to close to the keeper who saved easily with her feet, again 3mins later and in the same situation walker this time was free with only the keeper to beat, but again and this time she made an even better save with her feet, this one she should not have saved,3 mins before ht durham had there only real chance of the 1st half when ness held 2 defenders off and curled a shot wide,it was 1-0 at half time with everton deserving more than a goal lead

19 year old forward mollie green who Everton signed from Liverpool 6 weeks ago had evertons best chance at the start of the 2nd half when she fired a shot that was saved by Durhams Keeper Laws again from a pull back by walker.on 57 unmarked Hinnigan had her header saved from a free kick,on 60 Durham were close to been level when keeper Levell pulled off a decent save,on 66 Levell pulled off another save,Roberts and Johnston then had chances for durham which came to nothing,on 80 everton sub Chance brought down a high ball and set Hinnigan up for a curler which was saved,Salicki then had a shot saved by toffees keeper Levell on 82,Salicki on 89 was found in the box and she poked a very good chance wide, then on 91 Everton got lucky when Durhams Hepple's free kick struck the post with the rebound comming out to wilson who tapped it home, but lucky for Everton the flag went up for offside, and with that, that was the last action with a massive win for Everton Ladies who go top

Everton Ladies next game is home and HOME IS AT GOODISON next sunday 14th may with a 2pm kick off

Everton Ladies came in this game knowing all they needed was 1 point to be officially confirmed as the spring series league champions in this the final game before the Ladies FA WSL transitions from a summer league to a more traditional football calendar,it would have took something to go spectacularly wrong with Everton Ladies been 3 points ahead and 9 goals better off than 2nd place to lose the title though, but after early Everton Pressure it was the Bees that hit the woodwork after 5mins when an inswinging free kick hit the crossbar, and then was cleared away from the goal line by Everton, the blues then had the 1st of 4 chances in the space of 2 mins on 16 mins with 1st Alieen Whelan having a 1 on 1 shot saved by the Bees keeper Harris, seconds later harris rescued the bees again when she saved a Magill shot which came into her path via a deflection, then harris made a double quick save from magill off a corner then saved the rebound as well, everton then had another shot saved before a minute later the pressure told and Everton were 1-0 ahead on 28mins when Mollie Greens shot hit 2 defenders on the ground and went in,Harris then saved another magill shot on 31 before it became 2-0 on 34 when captain Michelle Hinnigan had a looping header land in the net after a good cross from Turner,Hinnigan just before ht then had another shot easily saved, but it was 2-0 at half time and very well deserved

The 2nd half began like much of the 1st half with Kelly Jones having the 1st shot of note, which was deflected over on 51,3mins later Bryson running onto a header, headed wide at the back post,The Bees keeper then saved a shot on the line before Whelan then had the 1st of 2 shots, the 1st one going wide, the 2nd saved,it was 3-0 on 70 when Claudia walker was brought down for a pen, which she got up and took to score herself,Walker then had a shot from distance over the bar, before vicky Jones then had her shot saved by Bees keeper Harris from the edge of the area, without her,the score could have been double figures,to cap of a great season for the Ladies, and in a fitting end to the season,Claudia Walker then made it 4-0 with her 2nd of the game in the last minute with a thunderous finish from outside the area which Harris had no chance with, and the game ended seconds later, with back to back 4-0 wins for the Ladies

What is the Spring series mate? Doesn't this have anything to do with the normal league campaign?

The Spring Series is a one-off competition which has been created to bridge the gap between seasons, while the FA WSL transitions from a summer league to a more traditional football calendar, this is due to start sometime in august,The Ladies are not promoted etc,the girls have been playing march-november usually but its going to be same time as the normal premier league footy seasons from now on

Hearing anything regarding a possible promotion with the Notts County situation?

FA WSL 2 clubs are now able to apply for the remaining place in FA WSL 1. The application process will require clubs to demonstrate how they will meet the additional licence criteria, financial and staffing requirements of FA WSL 1.

The five elements of the application will be weighted for assessment purposes as follows: finance and business management (30 per cent), players, staff and youth development (30 per cent), facilities (20 per cent), marketing and commercial (15 per cent) and 2016 and Spring Series on-pitch performance (5 per cent).

Clubs must submit their application by midday on Tuesday 30 May. The decision will be made in early June, before confirmation of the successful club’s new league place at the FA WSL AGM on Wednesday 28 June.

If they kept the wsl 1 and wsl 2 as it was going to be,the top league would have 9 teams with the 2nd league having 11 when the winner of spurs Ladies/Blackburn Ladies was known,so doing this will have a top league of 10 and 2nd league of 10

Surely we are odds on??

What was the reasoning behind a non-traditional summer season for the ladies game? And conversely, what's the reasoning behind the switch to a more traditional football calendar? I'd have thought the crowds may have benefited a little from playing during a period when there's very little other live football to watch.

It was actually changed to try to gain bigger crowds ,the new august-may womens season,[probably the same why it was march-nov really],but i think it might have the reverse effect and get less than now,or pretty much the same crowds, as the prem league and everything else will be played same time etc,

The more I think about it, it would be farcical if Everton didn't receive entry into WSL1.
3rd last season, won the Summer league in a canter, biggest club in the WSL2.
Struggling to see how we won't get lucky here.
