Do you really think the Tories are stupid enough to come out and admit 'we only look after the rich' and expect people to vote for them?

No, they give rhetoric on how savage cuts are just a necessary part of cutting the deficit and spout complete falsehoods like 'we're all in it together' despite the fact that every decent study shows the poor getting poorer and the rich getting richer.

I don't mind if you want to support the Tory philosophy, but don't come on here pretending they care about the poor, because their policies blatantly show the opposite.

The last labour governments had lower public spending as a portion of GDP than the Major and Thatcher govts before it and the Coalition govt which followed it. Amidst a global economic crash, they were of course slated, as any govt in power would have been, but they are the facts.

But Pete, if you want to lap up Osbournes 'labour don't save money for a rainy day' propoganda and cite radical socialist governments in South America as reasons as to why left of centre economic policy worries you so much, then don't let me stop you supporting a party who once wished to put Liverpool into 'managed decline'.

I'm absolutely delighted that people earning £30,000 are £826 better off than under labour. What an achievement. Now here's the reality.

In 2009/10, 40,898 people were provided with at least 3 days emergency food provided by a food bank charity. A shocking amount.

In 2013/14, 913,138 people were provided with at least 3 days emergency food provided by a food bank charity. 330,205 of these were children.

The huge increase in food bank users directly coincides with the new benefit rules and the powers to sanction and reduce benefits. In fact, while 20% of food bank users were forced there due to low income, over 30% were there due to benefit delays and sanctions.

This is why you cannot vote for a Conservative government in May. We ought to be absolutely ashamed of ourselves as a nation for allowing this to happen, but as long as the Tories preach their economy building mantra, it will never be accounted for. By voting Conservative, you are allowing this to happen.

Cracking post.

The crux of the matter is that the policies of the Tories punish those in society who need the most help. It is all well and good saying that they are striving to make the country better for everyone but all the evidence points to the fact they are trampling all over those who are already downtrodden.

We are meant to be a civilised society ffs.

Liverpool used to have some major industries paying very high salaries. Some disappeared because they were no longer competitive in the world and some were damaged badly by Politicians (Thatcher & Brown).....but it's time to stop moaning..... Liverpool was once one of the great Cities, it still is, but it's had some absolutely shocking people running it and it's why Manchester is growing while Liverpool just gets worse........

Moaning? I think we've got plenty to moan about. Local council budget cuts were the second largest in the country despite seeing some of the highest rates of unemployment & child poverty in Britain.

You use Manchester as an example, they have enjoyed heavy investment of late and will continue to do so. The new 'Northern Powerhouse' concept is based around Manchester being the hub. Take rail for example - the new HS is due to finish in Manchester, links towards Leeds will be improved greatly yet except for the recent electrification work here (Long overdue to take us out the dark ages) there are no plans for similar schemes here.

Liverpool was the fastest growing economy in the UK outside of London in 2012.

No mate, I expect them to sit in their castles and laugh at how much money they have, while simultaneously driving the working class into destitution. Is that what you really believe ?....

Public spending went completely out of control under Labour and even they admit it, why can't you ?.......

So why does Manchester get the investment ? Similar Labour controlled council........

Far harsher when describing Gideon. Suppose with his seat at risk he needs to distance himself from this toxic tory led government.

Well good luck with that! Cant see how a Deputy PM in a coalition can distance himself from anything or anyone.
