.....regarding the TV discussion (it's not a debate), revelation that Paxman has admitted being a Tory and seriously considered standing as MP for Kensington at this election. Be interesting if Labour utilise that if Milliband has a tough time.

He will be fair. He is more of a journo than politician.

I would be astonished if any decent political journo didnt have an affiliation with a party. Like they also get to vote dont they?

....no doubt, but I wonder if Labour might try and use the story for a bit of 'spin'. Remember the Adam Boulton spat with Alistair Campbell which nearly ended in fisticuffs.

To be honest, I think this type of stuff puts a lot of people off politicians regardless of their political persuasion. It's sad where a gaff or bit of scandal could determine the outcome of an election.

Not a revelation mate, was first talked about in June 2014.

I've just watched Camoron trying to discredit Milliband in his big opening speech, I despaire at the amount of the general public that believe his [Poor language removed] I really do.

If they got in for another term, the cuts they have planned, you ain't seen nothing yet.

I personally like the direction David is going in, I dont normally vote, but I do like the colour blue.

Cameron again hammered Miliband today labelling him weak ( And several other things) but that will not wash with voters now. It's Cameron who avoided the 1 on 1 debate and it was Cameron who folded like a pack of cards infront of Paxman.

Over the last few years the tory party and the right wing section of the press have tried to build up an image of Miliband. Carefully selected pictures printed (Such as the bacon sarnie one) to back up the 'buffoon' image have been the norm and to an extent it worked. People forget Miliband stood up to Murdoch, the big energy companies and also America/Obama when the vote on Syria defeated the government, he also beat his own brother for the leadership contest. Calling him weak is wearing thin and starting to look desperate. I'm sure David Cameron is an avid admirer of Thatcher, one of her more memorable lines was 'If they attack you personally, it means they have not a single political argument left'

Traditionally certain media outlets have had a stranglehold on election results, they filtered the news to suit their agenda however in this age of social media that grip has been loosened. The next few weeks are going to be fascinating.

He didn't beat his brother at all. He won because of the unions.

He won the leadership battle - therefore he beat his brother

Trade Unions represent millions of people, they are also what built the Labour Party. Vast majority pay into their said Unions political fund and are balloted in regards to which candidate their Union will back. He also polled 4/5th of what his brother did amongst party members so whichever way you look at it the race was a tight one.

I went to the hustings before that leadership election in the Devonshire and voted for Ed based on what I saw he was very impressive. I must admit the first few years of his leadership were a disaster though, only in the last 12 months have I saw the same person which got my vote back in 2010. When you are in a room with him he has a certain aura, unfortunately it doesn't translate on to TV.

I could have sworn I heard Miliband say in the thing during the week that Labour will also make cuts. Haven't they pretty much signed up to the Tory spending plans for the next term? I might have misheard though as Paxman didn't seem to push him on it.
