That kopite manc fella....

Cardozo turned 28 about a week ago. Although I don't rate him that highly, myself.

If it was on a pay as you play deal, then no. But I reckon there'd be other clubs who'd offer him a regular contract.

I don't think he'll have a lot of offers myself. Saha had less of an injury record and I think he was fairly fortunate that we gave him an opportunity. Any club who would give Hargreaves a permanent deal straight off needs their head examining.

Im basing my opinion of Cardozo on our system i despair of thinking of Defoe or Owen in the box and cross after endless cross being fired in. I think Wickham would do well to come to us - get expierence and game time and he would fit our model of potential resale value - i dont think hes ready to score over 10 goals in the PL yet and wheather we could afford to blow our load on one for the future when we need goals now - im not so sure.

I would be amazed if Owen didnt end up at Villa and get in on the old pals act, with Houllier and McAllistar.

Definitely, but two words: Newcastle United.

Unfortunately this is 2011, Brownz.

Would you have old Michael?

Yep. We'd have to be quite unlucky to have both Saha and Owen injured at the same time. He's still a quality player, better than we could get under any other circumstances. I'd rather take Owen for a nominal amount and spend the majority of any money we have on a wide player than vice versa, definitely.

That is an excellent point mate.

I too agree that we need a wide player even more than we need a front man. It's not always as simple as "we're not scoring so we need a goalscorer".

We do, like, but we have no pace and no width and it's about time we did.

Anyway, I'd also take Owen, like. I'd hope we could sign someone else as well up front, but he'd be worth a shot.

It would be positive for the club to get big investment which would give us chance to get these players in their prime and not when they are past it. I was thinking when owen slotted in against Blackpool that he still looks a polished finisher and could still do a good job for us as long as we signed someone younger and less injury prone as well this summer

I think Cardozo would cost more than you'd expect. Why would he swap Benfica for Everton too? He is the right sort of player to do well for us though. Defoe or Owen would only fit in playing off someone with the presence to hold the ball up eg. Crouch or Heskey.

I'd expect Wickham to go for £10m+ to one of the big clubs. I suspect that the reason he hasn't moved already is either because the player wants to learn his trade by playing week in, week out or because Ipswich are hoping that he'll get them in to the Premier League. We'd get blown out of the water on that one, I'm sure.

Owen to Villa isn't a bad shout. He could link up with his old mate 'Bruno'. I don't think he'd do much good for us. I think he's lost his hunger for one thing. You'd also have to ask whether he'd want to play for us. His allegiances seem to have been permanently switched to the dark side.

I think Chelsea have very much the same problem. They've got millions of pounds worth of strikers, but they're so narrow that it's easy to defend against and they're slow on the counter. I keep saying that Max Gradel has only got a year left on his deal at Leeds. If we don't sign him, someone else will.

I despair.

In one day we have been linked / talking about us signing Barton, Nolan and Owen.

Sorry ladies and gents, going to bed and hope this nightmare will end. LCAB please quash all this ****e.

I hate Little Mickey with a passion, the most selfish and self obsessed players I have come across in 40 years watching the blues.

Night all, will return when we are talking about players who should wear the shirt!!!!!!!!!!!

Demba Ba and Owen up front. Tasty. *rubs hands*

I'd love Owen here. That would reaaally annoy the kopites too! But more because I think he's still a good player. Always looks good when he comes on for United and still gets the odd goal even though he plays like 10 minutes at the end of every match.

To those lads who would take him, a little stat. Michael Owen has NEVER scored 20 Prem goals in a season. Ever.
His goal against Argentina and his debut season have carried him a long long way.
