Ten Games in.

We're winning games without playing well ( City should have beaten us and if West Ham had taken their early chances they would probably have too )which is good in the short term but will cost us in the long term as you can't get away with it for an entire season.

It's a good base to build on but that's all it is. We have to up our performance level though
Should have been out of sight against Spurs and should have took 3 points at Burnley...it will even itself out over the season.
But 10 games in he have a healthy return.

The state we were in fitness wise, a draw against Spurs who not long before had put 6 past inter was a decent result. I know you can't win every game, but to collect only one point from the palace, Bournemouth and burnley games was criminal. That to me is the biggest disappointment so far.

I dare you to do it in December.

In fact, as I've drank quite a bit, I promise to join (as long as you remind me lol ) for that.
I haven't done any "Kithnou's Unbeaten" threads this season as they were an avenue for a laugh during difficult times last season with our previous Manager. Don't think we need them as we are going ok.

The boro goal was a foul so really could have been 4 clean sheets... which is a good return from 10 games. Out of interest does anyone know how many clean sheets we kept last season?

Somehow it was 10 in the leagur. On pace for slightly better this season. Arsenal and United led the league with 18.

The big improvement is there's only been one league game with 2+ allowed (Burnley). Last year there were 15.

What is your opinion on RFM?

Do you think he has a future as a first choice CB for us?

I think there is a good defender in there. He is quite quick, good in the air and a keen competitor. He is still very raw though and probably doesn't read the game as well as he might. I think he also overplays, I imagine the message given to him by Koeman will be get rid of it and if he starts doing that he will be more effective.

The game that stands out for him is Spurs at Home last season. for 45 minutes he was all over the place. I don't know if someone said to him at half time to change what he was doing or he worked it out himself but second half he came out and had a physical battle with Kane and started volleying him which nullified him. He also seemed to be quite at home doing that. He's one of those that is best when playing within his limits.

As with most of the players the issue for Mori will be patience of Koeman. I don't think he wants people who will be good centre halves in 12 months but people who are ready to play now. He doesn't seem to have much develop time leeway. He will either do as Koeman wants or not play. There are enough raw ingredients there for him to be a very good centre half but it depends on how quickly he can learn.

As indicated above, for the next run of fixtures there aren't many gimme games. Only really Hull and Swansea, the rest will be challenging. I wouldn't mind seeing us have a run with 3 at the back. He does carry the ball out of defence better and alongside Jagielka and Williams I think will stabilise him. He is quicker and better in the air than them both and a bit more aggressive, when dealing with lads like Zlatan, Costa, Giroud so he could be an effective weapon, and allow Jags to focus on blocks and Williams to organise. We'd also pose greater threat of set plays which will be a good option for us against the harder teams.

Good Post.

I think when he keeps it simple, he could arguably be starting every week. Think he's the quickest, best in the air and very aggressive. Agree that he's raw but I do think there is a player in there.

Think he will definitely start on Saturday, but I'm interested to see if Koeman thinks we need another centre back of a similar age to possibly take over from Jagielka. As I feel Williams will be starting all this season and probably all next season as well. Would personally like our next centre back to at least be as tall as RFM as well as being comfortable playing out. Not completely struck on Jagielka and Williams as a pair but you can't knock the defensive record at present.

The signings that we've made have all been rather good and slotted into the side nicely. There is still more required to achieve our goals.

Defensively we look so much more solid but there are shades of last year in a stale attack. Koeman obviously attempted to address the defence first by bringing in a keeper, center back, and defensive midfielder. I hope to see similar improvements made at the other end of the pitch.

I think we would be on even more points if Baines was fit and he'd stop playing Cleverley.

Also, why does he keep playing Cleverley? He needs to sort that out along with the rest of the tosh we have available for center midfield.

Really unimpressed with Cleverly recently; high work rate, but seems to be always a step behind making the correct play both in attack and defense. I'm glad to be disabused of this opinion if I'm wrong.

I think we could do with another centre half. A lot will depend on Pennington and Browning pushing their way into his plans but he isn't overly keen on young players. I really like Pennington though he's not massively imposing.

Jagielka polarises opinion on here and I probably fall somewhere between it. I don't think he's top class anymore but don't think he should be bombed out. He is an experienced pro and you shouldn't just let all that experience walk out of the door. I think keeping him as 4th choice would be fine. I like Keane from Burnley who would be a good addition, VVD at Southampton would be perfect but not realistic. Other left field options would be Gibson from Middlesborough and Dunk from Brighton (who is a similar age to Keane/Gibson and was every bit as good as them both in the championship last season). I still quite like Kone though, he's been awful this season but at his best is a man mountain.

I quite like the system of a back 3. It is being used effectively by Conte and would probably suit us too. So yes another big centre half from the list above and Mori getting a run would be very good.
