…..one of the founding fathers of the US and a signatory of the Declaration of Independence was born in Liverpool.

Robert Morris was born in Chorley Court which stood off Dale St in 1734. His family emigrated to the US in 1747 to work in the tobacco trade. By the age of 20 Robert had become a partner in the leading British American export business. By 1765 he was on the committee against the Stamp Act, the taxation of colonies by the British Govt.

In 1775 Morris became a revolutionary after the Boston Tea Party. He was elevated to Commissioner of Finance buying supplies from his own wealth, set up the Bank of North America and nominated George Washington as President;
