It's more longevity for me. Neither are ready to start each game, every week, but they have to be ready for more minutes than they're getting. Barkley especially.

Vellios has been written off by some as a starter because of his ineffectual performances when he has started, but I've been ripping my hair out when people have put forth that argument. He's started twice with Cahill behind, and had no support. His goals have come as a sub, true, but also when we've been on the offensive late in games and committed more men forward. I'd love to see him play with either Saha or Osman behind, and he's shown more than Stracqualursi -- both are good in the air and strong but Vellios is good with his feet too whereas Stracq's got the touch of a serial rapist amputee with katanas for arms.

They might be ready, we don't know. But yes they are clearly ready for more than they are getting.
As for Vellios, what else needs to be said apart from Vellios = 3 goals, Saha = 0 goals.

Moyes is right lads, you really dont win anything with kids.

I mean when Fergies team pulled Hansens pants down, those kids where possibly the best kids in the World.

We have a lot of young players with bags of potential, but they cant be relied upon.

Anyway, its pretty clear.

Bye Rodwell, I will miss you.

Saha scored against Fulham...

Despite that I agree with Vellios deserving more starts.

I think Rodders will stay.

Barkley will be off like. For sure.

Nar no way.

He hasnt had Barkley in the shop window, if he wanted to sell him he would have had him on the pitch with his price tag on his ankle.

Billy was put out there and recently Heitinga, Rodwell fcked up the masterplan by getting injured, but he bumped his price up nicely with that England call up.

So he has to buy in replacement rather than using some of the highly rated youth he apparently does such a good job of giving chances too?

But they're all too **** to play supposedly?

He's not even swapping them around, its play the oldies and keep the youngsters on the bench for all but a few ineffectual mins here and there and regardless of how well they do when they do come on.

And then having to do that thing which all other managers get slated for when their name is mentioned : spend money.

Sure he needs some money to spend to strengthen the squad, but he doesn't need money to play some of his own youngsters over old guys who are contributing bugger all.

Must really do their confidence a world of good to read **** like that.

This is the sole reason Donovan's loan ends on the 26th of February,he turns 30 in march, one more over 30 would boot Davie's OCD into total overdrive, he would have to play Distin left wing to balance things out.

Nothing to do with this but here's some classic Moyes: "I can start him no problem, there’s no fears with starting him but you’re saying where is he, he’s just short of football."

You're just saying where is he? Where is he now? When you look at it he might be a wee bit short just now.

keeping the machine rolling.

Im hoping no one will be surprised when a big player is sold in the summer

Billys leaving in Jan I would be suprised if Drenthe stays past his loan spell

If Mcfadden and Straq are going to be our front 2 we might aswell give up now

We also need a playmaker to replace Arteta

So thats a Center Mid,Left Winger,Right Winger and two strikers at the very least

We need new forwards whether Saha and Cahill are getting too old or not. Moyes is saying that he needs to get young players in now to give them time to settle before the old guard retire. The point is that he does currently have plenty of options available already to replace like for like without ripping them team up and starting again. Moyes is making age the issue, but even if our more senior players were a couple of years younger, we'd still be lacking quality in key areas.

>> The average age of the Blues team which lined up against Sunderland on Boxing day was 30

That's not because we don't have younger players, it's because Moyes won't play them over his out of form stalwarts.

This. Will Moyes block the progress of Barkley, Gueye, Vellios etc by bringing in players who are 'steady', like Neville was when we recruited him? He says in the article that we can no longer afford players like Jagielka and Baines from the lower reaches.
