Why????

A few reasons I watched the game again today, he looks jaded, he made a lot of mistakes - gave the ball away for the first goal - lost pocession numerous times and almost gifted Bolton a goal with suspect backpasses. Additionaly i think he doesnt impact the game for 90 mins and increasingly less recently.

Dont get me wrong he is our biggest talent, but he has played a lot of football and sometimes taking time out to reflect and analyse performence and expierence can help a player improve. I think his performences have dipped recently - understandably so.

One of the first observations i made about Jack was the fact he doesn't waste balls. He will play a safe pass instead of taking a risk but i have noticed recently he is finding it more difficult. But you have to admit this could be partly to the rest of the team. Its about making it easier for each other.

He has played a lot of football, so pat on the back for not getting injured?

Don't you think we need him now more than ever though???

I always think young players need time out of the team and some protecing when performence dips to be honest, like i say reflection and analysis and rest may be good for him. He played through the summer as well.

Hes a great player but not consistent and his impact on games is getting less and less and the odd mistake is creeping in - just my opinion but i would give him a breeder.

The general idea in any sport is to avoid playing yourself into bad form.
When you hit bad form, sometimes it's good to take a little break and completely forget about the sport. It's often impossible to play your way out of it, as it's mostly mental, and not physical.

When you come back, you don't pick up where you left off with the bad habits, as you have a fresh confidence.

I'd definitely rest him, he needs a break.

Only for a game though, we can't afford to drop him because we don't have another midfielder who can come in and replace him.

He'll be straight back in after this game, unless he picks up an injury.

Some good points people.

If a rest will do him good, then it should be done. I just keep gettin flashes of his brilliance against AEK.....b)

He's a top class talent, of that there is no doubts. But he does need the odd rest every now and again, just to keep him fresh and up to speed. We can't afford to pick up injuries and Rodwell is a key player until Neville and Arteta are back.

He's still light years above the players he is playing alongside at the moment, he offers a hell of a lot more as a centre midfielder.

Hope not, from what ive seen he's been awful!

Don't wanna be to hard on the kid but he looks well off the pace, hope he gets better but can't see it.

Dont know why you say that as he was our best defender against Benfica

Hope Moyes plays a few of the younger lads in this game as we cant afford any more injuries to the senior players

I thought the lad had a good game, and surprised some people think he's slow, as he looked to be quite nippy when the chance came.
He got forward very well on the overlap, and considering he is a right back at left back, I thought he could be quite pleased with his efforts so far in the senior team.
This lad will be a good player for us very soon, of that I'm confident.

Hope he comes through and the Trap gives him a call up, we could do with a good fullbacks in our international squad - Kilbane at full back at the mo - i kid you not!
