2010: Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr al-Qassimi, member of a ruling family in the United Arab Emirates, has bought a majority stake in an unnamed Premier League club.


Sheikh Ahmed, a member of the ruling family Ras al-Khaimah, will be honorary chairman of the club.


Ras al-Khaimah is one of seven members in the UAE federation which also includes key oil producer Abu Dhabi and regional trade and tourism hub Dubai. (WAM news agency)

Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesnt Kenwright own 60% of the club, I think I remember reading that somewere. Fingers crossed its us, discuss...

The club is not named, and the person will be taking over as Chairman. If its not us is it? (how many clubs have not been sold as yet) who the hell is it? Not speculation, just relaying a report which does not name the club involved whic hfirst appered on the BBC website.

WAM Ras Al Khaimah, 21st June 2009 (WAM) -- Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Customs and Seaports, has acquired 60 per cent of a leading English club of premier league Sheikh Ahmed will be the honorary chairman of the club.

More details about the deal will be announced at a press conference to be held within the few coming days.

Posted same thread in world football as there is no clue as to whom the club is? The Chairman, if this is us, will not be Bill, so using a Davek logic, its unlikely to be us as Bill will still want some control over his train set.

So maybe between Earl and Bill theyve sold this guy a 60% stake, Conga's been going on about a takeover since early in the year.

Still think it's Burnley or Newcastle (news about relegation travels slow. Most barcode fans still think they support a massive club). (y)

Hasn't he said that he'd be willing to sale if the right buyer come along? Since he can't take the club further economically.
