Takeover Rumours

I'd welcome the chance of some mega rich fella running our club. As long as he isnt in it just for the money like those loveable Yanks across the park. People laughed at Chelsea when Abramovich took charge but look where he has got them. Personally, I'd love that. A consistent barrel of cash given to Moyes to spend as he wishes.

What has he done? He sacked the best manager around. He interferes with day to day running of the club. He forces players on to club the manager doesn't want. He sacks another manager (and so called friend) days after losing the champions league.

I for one, would not want an Abramobitch style owner in charge. What if he gets bored with his train set? Chelsea are f#cked and bankrupt within a few months.

You can not judge all by the actions of one otherwise we would all detest every red fan for example but I wont be getting excited until something more concrete I remember waiting for the fortress cash and was looking forward to Kings dock.(y)

If any of those people mentioned take control of Everton I will never support the team while they own the club. I know some of you may find this hard to understand but there is actually more important things in life than the size of the transfer budget! I'm a man not a sheep. If any of you dont know these peoples backgrounds I suggest you do a little research on them. They are SCUM.

Well Im sure your dossiers are quite extensive and have been through all their garbage bins as to how they made their fortunes.

Dont they reckon most of the paper money in circulation has cocaine on it.

Reading some of the responses in this thread it becomes clear how football clubs like Everton fade into obscurity. We could become a Notts Forest or Bolton or Preston for some supporters, never winning a sausage again as long as some "purity" was maintained. I'm sure that's what must have happened to the likes of those clubs. Bypassed by clubs with ambition and their supporters clinging onto some bullshit holier-than-thou identity.

It's laughable when you think we were the Mersey Millionaires who demanded and got other teams players during the 60s and 70s - the prototype Evertonski with our own Abramovich in John Moores.

What's Abramovitch done for Chelsea? Just allowed them to win two Premiership crowns and become a real European force again.

I dont support everton because they are or aren't successful. I support them because its the closest team to where i was born and brought up. Thats why people still support Preston and Blackpool etc. If i wanted success id support man u with the rest of the clowns.

The two dont need to be mutually exclusive.

what dose it say about our Chairman when fans start to wonder if its a ruse by him sadly, with Keioc having the same moral standards as Bill I think I will wait and see ,but maybe this is why Davy was in Moscow?.:D

It's certainly an issue which takes some consideration. You have on the one hand:

A) The chance to get someone to own the club where money is no object. Where any player we wanted could come here and get paid the wages they want. The manager would not be restricted on who he could target in the transfer market. The chance to challenge for League and Cup titles on a consistent basis. The chance to take the club to heights not seen in a long time. And naturally, the opportunity to stick it to the [Poor language removed] across the park. (y)

On the other hand, you have:

B) An owner who meddles in every little football affair because they bought the club. The possiblity of the owner tiring of the club after awhile and selling out or just pulling out all together leaving the club holding the bag. The tag of "buying the title" attached to the club if it in fact happens. Managers and/or personnel coming and going yearly as the owner gets impatient for results due to a bad run of form. (n)

Obviously not an exhaustive list and I fully admit that I'm torn between having a moneybags owner come in and give us the boost we need or doing it how we've been doing it over the past few years. Certainly there are no guarantees with either A. or B. but it causes me to think "What if?" on a regular basis when it comes to Everton's ownership.

There are merits to both options as well as pitfalls with both options.

With the exception of Chelsea, which clubs are spending significantly more than they're earning? West Ham spent big when a new owner came along and announced this summer that they'll pretty much have to sell before they can buy. Ticket prices across the Premier League have gone up by around 10%, with some of the biggest rises coming from the neaveu rich like Portsmouth and Man City. We've seen the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd be bought by people that have used very little of their own money to buy each club.

So quite where this idea that a new owner will happily lavish money left, right and centre on the club without giving two hoots about ever making a profit is anyones guest. They're called investors for a reason, they want a return on it. To get that return we need to get more fans, or charge existing fans more (or both). TV revenues have come off the back of the popularity of the PL. Outside of that we either need to attract more fans or expect more money to be leeched from the existing lot. Wouldn't it be ironic if a new owner took over and then TW was awash with people complaining about the large ticket price increases.
