But then a free transfer still costs a fair old whack and we are buggers for frittering away money on wages for such a small squad.

Personally mate if we got Tadic and say Lukaku or Benteke the rest could be loans and frees to bulk the squad out as long as they can contribute something and no one important left and i'd be over the moon with that, expectations are tempered by the reality of seeing the charlatan bill in action for too long though
