If signing colback saved us money that we can spend up front I think it would be a good deal. One of sunderlands better players.
I don't hate him, he's just not going to take us anywhere higher than we are I don't think.

Decent players signed for free bulk out the squad though, and allow us to spend more on the positions we need to. Which could take us higher than we are.I don't hate him, he's just not going to take us anywhere higher than we are I don't think.

Each individual player we sign is not supposed to 'Take us to the next level'. You will need to look at all the signings as a whole.
James McCarthy cant play 60 games a season at the high intensity he does., same for Barry & Gibson. We need fresh legs in the middle.
Am I missing something with Colback? I just don't see the appeal or the talent others seem to.
YEs and no.
I just like exciting signings a little too much. And Jack Colback isn't one. But of course I understand the value he can add.
I think Oviedo is a good option myself. Certainly could fill in without a noticeable difference. We complain about a small squad and a lack of depth and then people want Colback though? I'd rather invest what money we have in quality options so we can rotate without a massive drop in standard.Join the club mate, he's a decent squad player and thats all imo, same role as the likes of naismith, oviedo etc fill
