A lot of the summer transfer activity may well revolve around
Branthwaite and whether he stays or goes. My priority would be our defence which needs a good overhaul.
Tarkowski and Keane are just not good enough, often enough, to start and
Mykolenko is so hit and miss at times, the three of them would be good squad players.
O'Brien and
Branthwaite are our ideal CB pairing but if Branthwaite goes then we need to look for an experienced CB, better than
Tarkowski or Keane.
A RB is needed and if Moyes doesn't fancy
Aznou or wants to introduce him a bit slower, as he did with Baines, Coleman, then either we stick with
Mykolenko or get another LB as well. We may need a similar type of player to Gueye, run and close down as he wont play as much as this season. But when all is said and done Moyes likes a particular type of player, he doesn't trust youth who can for Moyes seem to be too unpredictable/not set in Moyes's ways - stay close to your channel in case of a breakdown in attack.
Dibling,
Rohl, Armstrong,
Aznou should have had more game time but haven't and that's down to Moyes probably not trusting them/sees flaws in their 'play'.
As far as a striker goes. If Barry has burnt his bridges then get shot. Beto has improved but we need someone like Welbeck who can actually control the ball and bring others into play. Having said that Moyes doesn't play that way but likes a big fella up top.
We have money but will Moyes be able to recruit players that will take us forward. But then again can Moyes take us forward.
