Summer transfer window.

Don’t know much about him. Still rather we prioritised a RB but could do with an upgrade on the left too.
Looked decent against us, but can't say I've seen him in any other games.

Worrying the amount of comments from people saying he can't defend well, from the source it's very much to be taken with a pinch of salt anyway.

….looked a machine against us at BMD, he’s some athlete. Kept a watch on him since, he can give you kittens when he has possession in defence but he’s a terrific engine going forward and I think he got a decent number of assists for them this season.

Would you say a big more in the mould of a Baines/ Coleman type Eggs ? But not as good defensively, because Moyes would definitely work to improve his defensive qualities in sure of that.

….nowhere as classy in possession as Baines or even Digne, he’s not ‘clever’ with link play but he’d sure be frightening running at you. My concern watching him is he can do some ridiculous things when looking to play out from the back.

Somebody posted on here a month or so back how much they’d like him, certainly bring a different dimension to our play.

Yes but Moyes and his staff could work on that I'm sure, I just got sick and tired of our attacking play falling down due to no infringing last them, oh for the days of prime Baines and Coleman.

I really love this forum and the transfer threads. It always amazes me how anyone not currently playing suddenly becomes five times better in people’s minds than they actually are.

I remember last season when people were quite willing to let Garner be replaced because he supposedly was not good enough, look how he has flourished for most of this season.

People blame Moyes, the defence, the strikers, the lack of creativity, the new stadium and so on and so on.

What I have seen this season is a team that has tried hard (the final game against Spurs apart) but is limited. We have not been massively outplayed in lots of matches, but conversely we never look like massively outplaying opposition either. The league this year seems poorer compared to some I remember, although the fact the Premier League may end up winning all three European trophies on offer (despite the degradation of two of them) perhaps shows how comparatively strong and competitive the league still is. The margins are small.

We were massively unlucky in some matches, conceded some late goals, and did not get our fair share of decisions, VAR or otherwise, which has cost us vital points and the chance of European football next season. Overall, though, the season has probably been about a 5/10. Had a few decisions gone our way it could have looked much better, but it was still, in many ways, a massive improvement on the previous couple of seasons.

Since the unfortunate injury to Grealish, we have missed some real magic, someone capable of pulling defenders away and allowing others to excel. But let’s have it right: if Dibling and Anzou were really the answer, I do not think their ages would have been the factor holding them back and Moyes would have played them. We do not see them in training. What little I have seen of Dibling makes me think our money could perhaps have been better used elsewhere, although he is still developing and hopefully will come good. I am by no means writing him off, but the cost seems high at the moment.

I will also go slightly against the grain here and say that later in the season, at times, the side looked more balanced when McNeil was playing. Apart from one performance from Rohl, he did very little that excited me at all.

In terms of the strikers, Beto is not as bad as some on here would have you believe (not great for sure though). Barry, however… wow. “Raw” would be a very kind way of describing him, but I suppose if nobody knows what he is going to do, including himself for the most part, then maybe that unpredictability might eventually confuse him into scoring a few goals. But for me, both could leave and I would shed no tears.

We missed Branthwaite for large parts of the season and I think he would have made a huge difference. That said, I was not as appalled by Keane as I expected to be, and in many matches I thought he was slightly better than Tarkowski.

We miss good full-backs (no shock there), we miss a really good striker, and we miss pace throughout the squad.

When I see people dismissing Grealish and saying they would not be bothered if we missed out on him because the money could be spent better elsewhere, I cannot agree. A fully fit Grealish is our most exciting player (along with Ndiaye), so if he is affordable and his wage demands are sensible, it is a complete no-brainer for me.

People also dismiss Stones as injury-prone and past his prime. He has had his fair share of problems, but let’s be honest, he walks into our backline (walks because he is injured maybe), and he is still going to the World Cup too, rightly or wrongly.

I do not want loads of ageing players arriving for one last payday, but turning our noses up at Stones and Grealish makes me think some people have ideas way above our current station.

Alongside those types of signings, we could target players like George, Hackney, Azeez, or some of the other younger standout performers in the Championship and across world football, developing them alongside more experienced professionals. Yes, we will probably struggle to compete with clubs offering European football for some targets (such is life).

So can we give the tired Soucek and Wilson nonsense a bit of a rest, tone down some of the negativity, and instead look forward to the summer, some exciting links which will probably not come to fruition, and hopefully a more sustained push for European football, and maybe even a decent cup run, next season?
I have quite a few issues with this message, I'll try to address some:
1. Conceding late in a match is bad luck once or twice but not if it happens often. That's tactics, exhaustion or mentatlty.
2. Grealish was getting stale before his injury. We kept passing him the ball but there was no movement and he was doubled up and our attacks dried up.
3. Branthwaite's injuries are a concern and have been for quite some time. Club can't rely on him going forward. Nice if he plays, but don't expect it.
4. Why weren't fullback situation addressed last summer?
5. Stones won't walk into our backline for most of the season except perhaps in crutches. Just this season he was unavailable over 100 days due to three different injuries totaling 24 matches. Last season he had four injuries totalling almost 170 days out, missing 34 matches.
