Summer transfer window.

Paulhina to but he went to Spurs.

I guess the question I was asking overall, is it better to sign young players who play less then 15% o&our games or older players who will play - if we want to keep this manager

Theoretically, you say young players but what’s the point if you have a heap of them that can’t get near the team or played 15% of games during a European push.

Open question really!
If we continue to sign young players based on a strategy that the manager doesn't believe in we are in a whole heap of trouble. We either need to change strategy or change the manager.

Watched him (& Monga) live a few months ago. Totally anonymous the pair of them ... and against a very average Charlton team.
Might as keep and play Dibling

….posters who ‘just want Moyes to play Dibling’ will soon get annoyed if he performs like he’s done so far.

Last summer we brought in;
Dibling 19
Barry 22
Aznou 18
Grealish 29
KDH 26

…..think that’s an average age of 22.8 ;) I find it all a little odd, I’d be more interested in good footballers than young or old footballers.

What’s Moyes going to do with him. He had a season to coach & develop him & Moyes hasn’t given any indication that Dibling has progressed in any way.

We surely can’t sell him after one season, or loan out our £40m buy.

Southampton are in the play offs so perhaps they will be back next season & there could be some sort of deal if he hasn’t ‘settled’.

It does run the risk that if he goes elsewhere & shines we are going to look even bigger clowns.

I agree. The kid has to leave for his own sake. A return to Southampton would seem to be in everyone's best interest. No doubt we will have to take a hot on the transfer fee.

Obviously a lot of paper talk around Delap and Everton. Overhyped player in my opinion. Useful but not as good as some people make out. When playing in a Chelsea team, if he can't rise to the occasion with the quality and depth around him in that squad, I've not much faith in him doing it with us. Think swerve.

i think we have seen at chelsea that spending 500 mil every season on teenagers is not the best strategy for immediate success

like monga is only 16 years old, he's clearly going to need to be developed for a few more years but he's the type of signing that liverpool would make and then turn into a raheem sterling for example

we need to get ahead of the curve on youngsters as well as bring in experienced players

…..no idea, Matey. It’s all conjecture; reports he’s just not interested but who knows. You’d think maybe a loan but he might be happy with his lot and refuse to go, or he could and be just the same elsewhere. Soton might not want him, not sure other clubs would want him or meet his wage demands given how he’s looked this season.

It’s total guesswork, I doubt anybody on here truly knows including those who just blame Moyes. I’d say the only certainty is he’s been very disappointing and it looks a poor bit of business at this stage (along with Barry).
