It’s also much easier to sell the same players when you’re higher up the table because buying clubs will deduce that it’s no shame not getting into a good side and maybe player x just needs a run of games elsewhere, when you’re in the bottom half it looks bad for a player not to be able to get in a poor side.

Scouting department need to earn their money , plenty of good talent around South America for example. Those teams are showing up the European teams for spending over the odds on mediocre players all the time and proving it in the world club cup . Problem is agents have their tentacles all over the owners and prem clubs so we'll be one of the clubs paying over the odds for players like Tierno Barry when we could pick up a player as talented from Brazil for half the price . (Igor Jesus or Plata for example)

You are right...Igor Jesus is off to Forest. I was told he was picked up from UAE or somewhere for nothing because he had a bad injury. They let him heal and promised him the chance to move to Europe...like it or not, that is the model of the multi level, multi team ownership...Jesus for example, if noone put an offer in him you could have put him in the window in Belgium, Lyon or Palace...its not what we are used to but it is the future...

I don't think it's an issue of scouts not looking at South American Leagues, more our survival mentality that was being employed the last couple of seasons. There seemed to be a belief we didn't have the luxury to recruit more obscure players as we needed ones with premier league experience who could adapt quickly to keep us in the league. I think since we're in a better situation financially Moyes has more confidence in the squad despite the extensive recruitment needed to fill gaps and what appears to be more competent ownership that the philosophy will inevitably change

If long-term stability can be implemented it will afford us to take more risks in the future
