Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

On the contrary, I think Brownhill will be an excellent signing. It's about building a strong squad, not cherry picking overpriced, over the hill galacticos. Think about Peter Reid, Trevor Steven, Kevin Sheedy, Paul Bracewell, Tim Cahill, Seamus Coleman, Leighton Baines, Steven Pienaar, Lee Carsley et al. How many of those Everton legends were household names before they were part of our two most recent successful squads? I'd go so far as to say that in terms of effect, Brownhill will be akin to that of Tim Cahill.
I can’t believe what I’ve just read. Will be akin to that of Tim Cahill 😂😂😂😂
He’s nearly 30, spent the majority of his career in the championship, he’s been relegated twice and nobody has been interested in picking him up, he’s only leaving because he’s free, well he’s not actually free because he will want a big signing on fee.

If we want to stay in the bottom half , yes let’s get brownhill, if we want to become a serious football club, then no thanks, he’s not good enough and never will be. Some of our fans standards are on the floor

Brownhill was terrific in the championship this year in fact his 18 goals were a huge part of Burnley getting promoted and always showed up in crucial games. He is 30 this December which goes against him.
If true, so be it. He can play a bit. Has know how, we need numbers, hes been rumoured to.be joining us for some time now.

I wouldnt be against this, he wont be a consistant starter, but an able deputy to step in when required..

Assuming its true...

In fairness, Southgate and Tuchel allowed his price to massively inflate by deeming him better than Branthwaite. His sale will in turn reduce teams' valuation of Jarrad because "If Quansah at 22 years of age is sold for 30-40 million, and he's amongst the top four or five options for England at centre half, how on earth can Everton value Branthwaite, also 22 but not even selected for his country, at even a penny more, never mind 70-odd million?".

No surprise really is it that the status quo seldom changes. Just wait until they sell Nunez for 80 million in a few weeks, then Diaz for 100 million to Barcelona.
The Quansah one is odd. He's been rated now by both England managers but the man that's just won the title (Slot) clearly doesn't. Whereas Branthwaite has been highly rated by both of his domestic managers and underrated by his International managers. I think the Quansah deal is PSR stuff. Worth remembering that Liverpool have signed Frimpong and are signing Wirtz. They probably asked Leverkusen if they wanted anyone and with Tah out the door too a young CB was a good option for them.

The longer this nonsense continues the funnier it gets.

I love people slating players we have not bought, because they are too old or not good enough. Sadly for you all, the only opinions that matter will decide and you’ll all end up singing their names and espousing them as greats, only to then harangue them until they disappear from memory.

I rue the advent of transfer windows, another slippery slope on the demise of football.

1000 pages... congratulations to all who have so willingly contributed...

Brownhill wasn’t much of a difference maker for Burnley in the PL

Tuchel picked chalobah and Dan burn, ahead of him, Carsley picked Harwood bellis before him. Managers have favourites and when it comes to England we all know it’s 90% what club shirt you wear . We all remember the Liverpool left back warnock getting picked ahead of baines for a major tournament. Makes no difference to the Branthwaite fee imo, we have a price, if you want him you will have to pay it

Spot on. Plus Liverpool have always had a premium for their players, i.e Jordan Ibe £15m for what...
