Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Leif Davis from Ipswich? LB who had 18 assists in the 23/24 season though that was in the Championship. Only 3 this year but he's been in a relegation team. The RS are being linked with him but he'd be second choice to Robinson if he went there. On £25,000 pw at Ipswich so his wage would not be a problem.

His underlying attacking numbers are one of the best in the PL - even if they aren’t reflective ted in goals or assists - at a different club they would be.

That said he’s a wing back rather than a left back, anecdotaly his defending isn’t great.

Moyes has never really signed lighting players, he doesn’t like out and out wingers, preferring players who tuck in, and prefers box-crashing no 10s who aren't skillful and creative, who we can hit the ball upto or get crosses into. He also doesn't put an emphasis on strikers to score goals, he'd rather have a focal point - it's why he loved Antonio and why he is apparently a big fan of DCL.

I'm personally of the opinion that that is not how to build a team long-term in the modern day.

Landon Donovan was lightening mate.

That's what was commonly said about Baines

Perhaps last year was part of his adjustment to the premier league. And his reputed poor defensive performance may largely be due to McKenna's insistence on playing open attacking football. Under Moyes he could possibly step up a level.

In nearly 12 years at the club, the only players he signed that were genuinely fast were: Johnson, Coleman, Mirallas, Jagielka and Donovan. We had a couple who might be make up ground okay (Distin). Of those, the only one who was lighting quick was Johnson. Look at the players he has signed over his whole managerial career. It is actually crazy how little he has prioritised pace.

Everton eyeing mega-money move for Vangelis Pavlidis

A new striker is desperately needed on Merseyside and Everton have an interest in Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis.

The club are keen to add more firepower to Moyes’ squad for the new season and provide him with a side worthy of playing in their new home.
