Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We really should be looking to get a deal for Delap done as soon as the window opens.

We are crying out for a player who can score double figures and he has done it at one of the worst teams to ever be in the PL.

Would also end any of the Evan Ferguson talk thankfully. Massively overrated.

Well there’s actually a very good excuse, we’re sailing very close to the PSR wind for this accounting period. It’s been done to death, but we can’t and won’t do any major business until after July 1st.

We can do deals today and post date the agreement until the next PSR window opens.

See Martin Samuel suggesting that if Delap’s agent has any sense, he’d punt him to a “stepping stone” club for two seasons where he’d get regular starts than a “premier” club where he’d get the occasional cup game as an understudy to the main striker.
WTF, I’ve never considered us as a stepping stone but …
Kidding yourself if you dont think we are a “stepping stone”

Most clubs are

Since the oil money got involved in footy, every club bar Man City, Real Madrid and possibly PSG have become a stepping stone club.

If City and Real Madrid want a player, no matter who they play for, they`ll get them eventually.

Look at it this way, do you think Lukaku came here with the intention of staying for a long time or do you think he came for game time / putting himself in the shop window ?

Delap would be the exact same.

And even before that, you could point to Ronaldo (CR7) who left Man Utd when they were peak as he’d always dreamed of playing for Madrid - he wanted to be the world’s greatest, and in his view that player invariably played for them.

Ofc it was just his luck that a certain Argentinian was actually playing for Barcelona around the same time, but that’s another matter.

Man U were, for him, a stepping stone.

….every young player will have ambition to play for one of the best clubs on the planet. They won’t particularly plan that route, they know the only way it happens is by earning the move with performances.

Delap will want to be a success at his next club, getting a bit ahead of ourselves thinking he’ll be good enough for RM.

There are degrees of stepping stone club. Right now, we’re probably 90% stepping stone. The takeover and new stadium make us attractive to players with a choice of destination. They might once again come to advance their careers, and then move on. Delap could be one of those. A year ago we’d have had no chance of even that.

In a few years, however, I’d hope we’d be maybe 25% stepping stone club. Once again admired enough that players with a choice come, and some then stay. Even the good ones - because our goals are actually in sight and we justify being chosen ahead of our new peers.

Sounds terrible. Why blow the whole budget. Why not make the signing of a player like that before they make it big rather than try to buy them after their fees have risen substantially. Good scouting is what is required
Sounds like a great idea. I don't know why more clubs don't try it 🤷‍♂️

Onana was the same. Unfortunately we fell that far behind other clubs in the time he was here, it was a stepping stone to Villa.

Everton will go toe-to-toe with Aston Villa and Newcastle United for Facundo Medina’s signature this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Medina’s form for Lens this season has drawn interest from the Premier League trio ahead of the transfer window, with the Ligue 1 side open to selling players this summer due to financial problems in France.

£25-30mil valuation.

I reckon we would have a good shout for Delap, his father obviously knows the workings off the premier League. He will want to play regularly and I can think of no better place for him than Everton at this moment. I hope Seamus is on the phone to his Father.

I'd love us to go for either. I think both have a lot of potential and now a bit of grounding experience to go with it. For me I think Feguson has more about him but either would be a brilliant way to start a summer transfer window!
