Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Interesting debate on Ferguson. I'd have him here on loan only, with an option, to take Brojas slot.

Ferguson still has the possibility of a potential upswing, whereas Broja has barely netted albeit due to some injuries, in several years.

Not sure if Brighton have a release fee in his contract with the hype that was generated around him, but I wouldn't want us to develop him into that player and then have to send him back there.

There is an implied risk in signing him, and that would have to be offset at the start, both in terms of initial loan and option.

There is certainly a player there I think, but we don't know the circumstances. His application has been questioned at times. My gut feeling on him is he'll have to drop down a level and will have a good career in The Championship or on the continent.

We don’t need anyone taking Broja’s slot though. We have 4 centre forwards and we certainly don’t need that many (given 2 incredibly injury prone strikers are leaving).

We need to replace Dom with a striker with a decent goalscoring and fitness record.

I think it wouldn't be impossible if we signed the following:
- Evan Ferguson (lower fee now he's been a bit of a dud at West Ham but still 19 with bags of potential)
- Dan Neil (of the Rigg/Neil combo, more affordable, and a high potential understudy for our DMs)
- Charly Alcaraz (obvious conversion of loan for AM)
- Doucoure (1 year extension, it's hard not to see it at this point given his goal scoring record in important games)

Can we date to dream about signing a decent right footed right midfielder, a new RB and LB, and possibly a better backup GK
Our backup goalie is ace!

If anythign he's to good to be number 2 here, would walk into every Championship team & Ipswich, Leicester, Wolves, Southampton & Brighton's team.

We will prob need a new number 2 as he will be leaving though

What slot is that the injured loan player slot , I think Ferguson would be great , at filling that role since he's always injured but I'd rather go outside of both those options and find someone able to score goals and stay fit

Can you let me know which players Moyes was responsible for and which Steidten was responsible for post his appointment in July 2023, because I cannot find anything beyond this article laying it all at Steidten's feet.

The West Ham fans including the reliable ones such as “ExWestHamemployee” who know more about them than either of us, lay the recruitment firmly at Moyes’ door. It was apparently a stipulation of him going there. That doesn’t exactly sound fanciful does it? We all know he’s hands on with recruitment and the strong rumour now is he’ll be hands on in recruitment again going forward here.

IT doesnt matter what Moyes did in 2005 for Everton or even 2020 for West Ham(cba checking when he was there), it only matters what he and the recruitment team do in 2025 for Everton.

Thats my view anyway.

You are all happy to deep dive into his past transfer dealings, but you would lose.

He signed Mikel Arteta for 2m, Tim Cahill for 1.5m, Leighton Baines and Jags for about 12m, combined.

So feel free to find me a manager who has ever done that.
I agree up to a point, but his signings at West Ham in the recent past it’s what’s more relevant surely? And they’ve largely been poor. A staggering amount of money has been wasted on bang average players. But as yet we don’t know how it’s going to work here. He may well prefer “Premiership experience” and players in the 25-30 year old bracket, what we don’t yet know is if TFG will be happy to sanction them. Only time is going to tell on this one. We’ll all know in August.

So it’s a stipulation of Moyes being there that he completely controlled transfers, and yet they appointed Steidten and announced he was responsible for recruitment? I think that does sound fanciful yes.

Are we talking Virginia ?? If so Reading fans said he was poop, I think he's fine as a number 2
