Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Agreed, I’d even be back in for Sheila before him
So who should the club sign? Delap, since we are obviously ahead of clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and half a dozen other clubs in the queue?

Some exciting dude from Ligue 1 who has a nice Youtube video?

Somehow make Newcastle take 30 million for Isak?

I know a year ago you would have wet your pants at the thought of Everton signing Ferguson.

Yes but that’s just it isn’t it. For a young player you need more than just a handful of games to assess potential. I am the days of signing players that have lots their way have gone. That particular profile of player suited the club when Bill Kenwright was in charge. In terms of who we sign, I don’t know enough of the game to know who’s good or not. What I can see that is Ferguson seems to have lost his way and the loan with West Ham does not appear to have worked out.

So you only want to sign experienced players who are already proven? In Premier League I presume? How many seasons should they have done this? Guess you wouldn't want Delap either.

Shouldn't take you too long to check the attackers in PL to tell which ones would be good enough for Everton. Can't be that many.

Ferguson had a cruciate ligament tear which took him out for about 5 months last season & ankle problems for a month which he was only cleared in February. So he's clearly not been match fit. He lost the entire preseason, was fit for a few months, got injured again and at 20, you expect him to be pulling up trees right away after coming back from that injury?

To me it looks this could be the perfect chance to sign a potential star at an affordable price. A year ago he was worth 50 million. I just can't understand who all of a sudden people think a young player like that forgot how to play football just because of an injury.

I'm a Ferguson fan but agree that if we are to sign him it would have to be on loan with an option. Too risky at he prices being quoted.
Would I be happy with our CF options for next season being Beto, Chermiti and Ferguson? Yes I would, providing we invested significantly elsewhere. 2 x RW, 1 x LB and RB and a DM to challenge Gueye.

No, there is a bigger footballing world out there than PL proven or wasted potential. You may be correct and he works out for whoever signs him, but there is European football to look at, the Asian market, and the Americas, it doesn’t just have to be those two profiles of footballer. A good string scouting network and analytics should allow us to widen our net for good young footballers.

Evan Ferguson wouldn't be the worst signing we could make, I mean we brought in Broja who was in a similar situation fitness wise. Moyes teams in the past had goals all through the team (barring Hibbert), I'm ok with bringing in a middle of the road striker (a good team player) as long as we also bring in midfielders and full backs who can contribute with cutting passes, dangerous crosses, and shots to make the goalie work.

Which players fit that mould that are available is anyone's guess. I'm sure someone will provide the answers on here shortly.

Oh boy we’re on to pretending it’s Moyes’ fault West Ham are crap now that we’ve run out of Everton related things to slate him for.

It is indeed where the trade go.
No, people are simply commenting on his recruitment at West Ham with the facts, figures, and players brought there for all to see. If you personally think he recruited well then that’s your opinion which of course you’re entitled to. Others including myself, think he recruited poorly overall. We all have opinions.

Can you let me know which players Moyes was responsible for and which Steidten was responsible for post his appointment in July 2023, because I cannot find anything beyond this article laying it all at Steidten's feet.

I can remember the reports of the two of them arguing over Ward-Prowse. Moyes wanted him and Steidten didn't. Not sure about the others.

There's obviously something not going right with him at the moment with Ferguson, potential and ability are one thing.

Professionalism and attitude complete the package.

There's a reason he cant get into West Ham's team despite his old manager throwing him a lifeline.

We are past trying to recuperate players

none of those are ready/good enough to lead the line on a consistant basis.

If we are signing a centre forward, he needs to be 'the daddy'

Moyes works well with a small budget imo. He draws strength from attrition and in fairness is very good at developing players. I do have concerns about handing over a war chest as I think he’d do just as well with a limited budget as he would with a war chest. I seem to be in the minority who doesn’t expect us to be world beaters over night and would be happy to have a year or two of conservative building with Moyes before going wild in the market. Let’s walk before we can run!

Could it be because he's been injured for most of the past year? He was still injured when they loaned him. He hasn't played a full 90 minutes this season which suggests he is not fully fit.
