Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Delap looks to me like a Gyokores type. I'd be surprised if he didn't go to one of the 'big' clubs, whether by historical league position or recent league position.
define 'big' clubs

are we talking liverpool, man city, arsenal? or are we talking man utd and spurs because the latter 2 are currently below us in the table

there's more chance of nottingham forest, newcastle and aston villa signing delap than man utd or spurs

Will we sell Branthwaite in summer
Who knows. My guess is that he stays unless he agitates for a move after a big club has made an offer for him .

And then it depends on who the "big club" is.

He would be a fool to go to the train crash that is Man U or Chelsea but tough to turn down a Real or City.

United are still a massive club and a big draw for players, it's daft to pretend otherwise. Spurs are a bit different because they've always been the poor relation of the top 6 so being where they are will hurt them a bit more in that respect.

Newcastle will keep Isak if they make CL so pointless going there.

Villa possibly...Watkins always been first choice but Arsenal wanted him in January so perhaps they look again over the summer.

I think because Ferguson's form has fell off a cliff and cannot get close to starting for Spam at the moment

We had people on this forum wanting us to get him in for 70/80 million and he has shown to be just overrated

But someone will come in the summer for Ferguson and get him for the same money as Delap I believe, so yes, I can see why Brighton would want Delap
I think Delap is possibly overrated based on one good season, he did not light up the Championship on previous loans.
Also worth remembering that Ferguson is 2 years younger than Delap and even 5 months younger than Chermiti.
Both Delap and Ferguson would be risky business in my opinion at €40m+.
I think Ferguson will probably go on loan to a promoted team next season and it wouldn't surprise me if he went on to deliver a season like Delap has had with consistent game time and a team playing to his strengths.
I wouldnt buy either at the price mentioned but would be open to a loan for either with an option.

if man utd crash out of europe and finish 17th this season do you think they can still attract big names in the summer?

Yeah of course, they are one of the biggest and most famous clubs in world football. They obviously won't be able to attract the absolute best of the best if they're not in the CL, but other than that they would absolutely blow most teams out of the water.

I was always certain we would, but it doesn’t seem the interest is there from other clubs now.
I don’t see any of the top 4 going in for him so I think he will give us another year, and see how we progress along with his England place.

Wasn't Harry Kane terrible when on loan to Leicester

Not sure what your point is, all players are capable of having a bad season. My point, if it wasnt clear, is that people may be over hyping Delap based on one good season. Not worth a £40m punt based on that IMO, unless at least half of it is add-ons (appearances, goals, European qualification etc.) as at least you'd be confident to get most of your money back if it doesnt work out.

Ferguson could drop like a stone with this West Ham loan spell.

A career defining season at someone in the Championship next year could help him.

Lets not forget Liam Delap 18 months ago couldn't get in the Preston team as Tom Cannon was keeping him on the bench. He was also absolutely backpocketed by Tarkowski at Portman Road this season (cue a hattrick at Goodison now)

People are far to quick to jump on these young UK lads (especially forwards) who go through a bit of a purple patch

Calvert Lewin had a similar 'Delap streak' lets not forget
Stats are dangerous when viewed through a a single lens. Thing with Delap is you can see how much more to his game there is than just goals, which he does still produce. Having what he has at his age is rare these days.
