Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Unlikely.

Remember when Vardy turned Arsenal down who were willing to pay his release clause?

Also, the Suarez thing years ago with Arsenal when they offered 40m plus a quid, but I dont think that was ever a release clause, who knows.

But I think we need to realise that not every contract will say the same thing.

I imagine release clauses and buy-back clauses to be different. I’d be surprised if Deulofeu had the option to tell Barcelona to go away when they implemented their buy-back clause that was written into a contract signed by Deulofeu when he agreed to join Everton.

A contentious opinion: I think strikers are worth more than defenders!

So if Delap is the real deal in the same way that Branthwaite is thought to be the real deal, then Delap should have a greater market value than Branthwaite, and I’d argue that finding a Branthwaite replacement would be easier than finding a ‘real deal’ goal scorer.

As with anything, it all depends on circumstances.

Delap plays for Ipswich and has a relegation clause.

If he played for Everton then his value would be different.

I like the Mourinho approach of strengthening the spine first. With Pickford--Branthwaite-???-Delap we'd be one short of a decent spine.

Some interesting OOC players this summer. Not sure if any of the below have agreed deals with current clubs or elsewhere, but it would be good to see us in with a shout even if they'd never consider coming here:

CB - Eric Dier, Lindelof
RB - Tariq Lamptey, KWP
LB - Reguilon
CM - Jorginho, Angel Gomes, Koke, KdB
CF - Lacazette, Calum Wilson, J David, Sane

Do I think KdB or Sane would ever consider coming to Everton, no, but I'd like us to aspire to that calibre of player. Though I do think the likes of Wilson and Dier would improve us short term as long as they stay fit.

i dont think it was financially viable for us last summer

plus we had dyche and no young player wants to play for him

he would have been second choice to DCL which could have swayed a move elsewhere

least now we can say he's guaranteed first team starter cos DCL is leaving
He went for around 15 million last summer . That was viable giving other outgoings.
We signed 3 youngish players last summer.
We need to be signing these players before the likes of chelsea are interested. Otherwise we don't get them.

i dont agree with that assessment

im sure ipswich paid more for him

we were doing swapsies deals with villa to remain psr compliant

the young players policy was always what kev wanted to do but dyche ostracised them, there's many podcasters who have confirmed that dyche was a deterrent for players joining us and he ostracised o'brien to the point where o'brien nearly left the club

I don't if he would be suitable for the premier League and it's a pretty obscure shout but the occasional Europa games I've watched with the Norwegian team Bodø/Glimt who have been exceptional in the Europa tournament, has a striker named Jasper hough who has 7 goals out of 11 so far and scored a couple goals for his team when they were the champions League last season , he looks like he has technique beyond just scoring too
